Commercial Description:
Number one in a series of five stouts produced for the fall and winter seasons. This beer is full bodied with hints of chocolate, roasted barley, coffee flavors and a nice creamy head.

Pours a thick tar like color with very dark tan head that very quickly dissipates to no head....barely even lacing. Aroma is of definite espresso grounds. amazingly strong aroma. Flavor is of malts and espresso. Bitter chocolate flavors. Definite nut undertones. Carbonation is light. A very delicious oatmeal stout....delicious

This poured black in color with a very thin head of brown bubbles. The oatmeal was prominent in the nose and mouth along with a smokey/metallic edge. This was meidum-bodied, smooth and engaging.

more thanks to fantomas! Rich dark fruit, a little tar, with some alcohol in the nose. Pours black with no head. It looks thick! Strong dark fruits, intense, some tobacco, bitter chocolate and burnt coffee in the finish. good beer.

Bottle@Home. Strong sweet coffee aroma with black berries and a little dusty. Thick, black colored, brown head, good lace. Light sweet, very malty, roasted coffee bitterness, more sweetness in the finish. Thick mouthfeel and roasted malts dry.

12oz bottle. Aroma has notes of wood, oats, roasted malt, cocoa, red wine, molasses, and coffee. Small tan head that fully diminished and left little lace. Pitch black hue. Flavor is sweet with hints of coffee, cocoa, dark ripe fruit, and wood. Palate is very full bodied and oily flat. Very slight alcohol burn. A very good stout. You have to drink this one with a knife and fork it’s so thick. My favorite one out of the DH stout series.

The color was extremely dark brown. The head was ceamy, frothy, and medium tan. The aroma was strong coffee, sweet, and chocolate. The flavor was coffee, roasty, some hops, sweet, molasses, and chocolate. The palate was smooth. The finish was warm.

Thanks a ton to polomagnifico. I am a huge fan of Dark Horse’s stout series. Pours a beautiful oily black brew with a two finger rich creamy dark brown head. Simply gorgeous pour. My girlfriend and I just realized this beer in the glass weighs about a ton too. Very rich nose, roasty, molasses, chocolate, dark coffee, sweet, some very light grain. Dark flavor, roasty, some bittersweet chocolate, light waxy feel, serious coffee in the finish, some burnt wood. Nice smooth palate. A little warm after a sip and still a very nice coffee finish. Man this is a great stout.
