Bottled, most recent batch. Poured deep brown with a short beige head that fizzled down quickly. The aroma picked up heavy roasted oatmeal with milk chocolate... very enticing and proved an excellent choice for dessert.
The flavor found about the same elements, with well-roasted milk chocolate, a hint of espresso, and a bunch of oats... fairly grainy throughout on the palate, where I expected it to be smoother... did a ridiculously good job of hiding its alcohol... enjoyed the dry roasted chocolate that carried through the finish. Very good brew.

Poured a clear very dark brown with a golden rim but no head. A brown film was left on the glass with each swirl. The aroma was very roasty with a fair amount of smoke and some chocolate notes. Light phenols. the flavor was on the short side. Malty to start then just leaving a long roasted bitterness. Light to medium body and a light creaminess.

12oz bottle, no date. Pours motor oil black with a minimal tan head, though after agitating it does come up nicely for a bit. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee, some oatmeal, a bit of paper oxidation, and char. Flavor has the addition of some piney hops and dried raisins. There is a bit of char again in the finish. Alcohol is not noticeable. Full body with soft carbonation--smooth! Very nice beer.

Pours a deep dark brown - almost black - briefly capped by a thin brown head. A ring of foam remains, providing nice lace. Full rich aroma of roasted malt, burnt raisin, and a hint of cigar wrapper. Good roasted malt flavor, sweet and also tangy, accompanied by plenty of bitter chocolate. Lots of oily coffee in the finish, a bit of an ashy aftertaste. Nearly full bodied, smooth carbonation. A nice sipper.

From trade with Artusory. This is a very dark brown ale that pours with a thin tan head and a strong chocolate aroma. I can’t really taste the oatmeal, since the chocolate and coffee flavors are overwhelming. The finish is slightly harsh and bitter but, overall, this is a pretty good stout.

Not as much creamy oat taste as I had hoped. More acidic and oily than most stouts. It has an inconsistency and unevenness that is hard to explain. None of the vinousness that most great stout have. A bit more enjoyable than the dark horse cream stout I tried recently.

Anticipated, but got little expected chocolate malt in the nose. Pours truly black with rich tan small frothy head. Disappears quickly. Full chocolate malted taste with a slight bitter ending. Very little frothyness on the tongue, but the right amount of syrupyness to reinforce its full flavor. Nice warm mouth feel. This beer disappears quickly without a bite at the bottom of the glass. Nice pile of dead yeasties at the bottom of the glass testifies that this beer is unfiltered. This is a fine satisfying stout.

Dark black pour creamier foam head. Almost a shot of espresso with barley and vanilla and licorice injected. Very rich and a quick bitter sweet finish.
