The dude who was pouring this beer had never even heard of that song, can you believe that? Pours a deep black opaque colour with an enormous khaki head. Many different aromas, Hersheys chocolate, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. Flavors of chocolate milk and cofee as well as a little smoke. Nice tasting, just released brew, with two different labels. Im waiting for it to hit the shelves. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 9, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a deep copper color bock with a small foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of medium coffee notes with a lightly sweet caramel malt base. Taste is also a mix between a lightly sweet caramel malt base with some nice medium notes of dry coffee. Average body with some OK carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not extremely complex but well done and interesting take on the doppelbock style. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Jun 4, 2008 A murky brown color with a small beige head. The aroma contains some caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and chocolate. The flavor contains alot of caramel along with some toffee, chocolate, and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is rather syrupy with a sweet finish. Overall a pretty good beer. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle: The nose showed off the coffee along with a mineral edge and overall was not as expressive as I was expecting. The palate was carbonated and refreshing showing off the flavors from the nose. In my opinion, this is a step down from the stout series from Dark Horse. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 26, 2008 Bottled. Poured brilliant coppery-orange with a short-lived cap of tan head. The aroma picked up day-old, but still yummy coffee grounds first with rich, drawn caramel not too far behind.. light wafts of sour oak and earth on the back. The flavor showed a little more of that sourness which wasn’t necessarily bad, but was kind of annoying.. sweet caramel, brown sugar, and toffee sweetness at the core with a dry, ashy coffee impression on the sides.. tacky and warm at the finish with more caramel and a medium-skinned fruit bouquet. Heavier-bodied and sour on the palate with low carbonation.. light smoke and a longer finish. This was decent.
