Flavor is quite sweet with a big coffee/burnt sugar and chocolate mix. Flavorful, but thin at the end. Nice coffee brew. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 5, 2009 Bottle courtesy of fiver29 and cmr1517 – thanks guys! Pours a murky brown with a minimal tan head, sans for a soap scum topper. The nose is coffee and roasted malt. The taste is caramel, roasted malt, folgers instant coffee and some chocolate with some boozy irish coffee in the finish. Medium prickly mouthfeel despite the lack of head. Interested brew. I enjoyed this one. Thanks again guys! TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Pours a deep ruby brown with a small ring of lace that fades quickly. Nose is big malts, coffee, alcohol, some earthy notes. Flavor has some hefty alcohol warmth up front with some coffee, hops, and sweet malt notes. Pretty thin mouth feel. Not the best I have had from this brewery. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2007 On-tap, served in a dimpled mug.
Poured a dark ruby with some bronze highlights, small pale beige head of sudsy foam, minimal amount of laced sticking.
An interesting nose of lightly roasted nutty coffee with caramel and toffee in the background. Further whiffs reveal a subtle sweet fruitiness, purple grapes and raisins.
Smooth moderate body with a enough carbonation to give it a light creaminess. The roasted light coffee provides a mild nutty bitterness to this doppelbock, that mellow bitterness you find at the bottom of a pot of properly brewed coffee, one that hasn’t been over boiled to death (a problem in my workplace). The coffee flavor is offset by the sweet maltiness, caramelized sugar and toffee. A light fruitiness, namely dried raisins, helps add a soften sweetness to the taste. The acidity is pretty mild overall and the finish is dry with just a briefly lingering taste of coffee and caramel.
This is better than I was expecting, I would have never thought to infuse a doppelbock with coffee, but this works. I do think the coffee infusion somewhat limits the drinkability though, I can only drink so much coffee before wanting to switch to something else.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2009 Fleck ridden cherrywood with a thin tan head, slowly fading leaving a ring of lace. Aroma of deep roasted coffee, sweet roasted malt and a touch of alcohol. Taste of coffee, dark roasted malt, dark pitted fruit and malt. Semi acidic in nature with mild roasted malt bitterness. Not overly sweet. MrBunn (1548), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Bottle. Pour is a brown with some red highlights and a little bit of a head that leaves just a trace of tiny bubbles. Aromas are sweet and roasted malt... more of a brown sugar smell than coffee, which seems a bit strange. A little bit of a pungent and earthy burnt smell (coffee?) Flavor has a strange mix of sweetness and burnt/old coffee that then transforms into a more reasonable coffee aftertaste. All that said, I was hoping for something a little more interesting. Mouthfeel is fairly thin. I think this beer could be much better... the flavors seem to work together, just needs some help with the fullness and the transitions. 17thfloor (1504), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 14, 2008 Pours a murky purplish brown with a small soda head that fizzes away quickly. Smells like a weak-old cup of coffee. Very strange stuff. Light bodied with soda carbonation. Tastes like some kinda of strange coffee-soda with light notes of chocolate and caramel. I don’t get it. When it comes to coffee beers... If it’s not better than a cup of cheap coffee from a convenience store then why bother? dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 19, 2008 12 oz bottle from KingpinIPA, thanks man. Pours a deep mahogany with a medium size frothy beige head. Aroma on this one is all coffe upfront with sweetness, honey and molasses, in the background. Flavor on this is similar to the aroma with the coffee stealing the show and then fruity sweetness coming in. This one is just a mess. Combining coffee with some things good. Combining coffee with a fruity sweet dopplebock not so good.
