This is very malty , thick caramel and some coffee overtones. Prolly my favorite beer from dark horse. The hops and alcohol come through right towards the end, but it is really blended well with the maltiness for a grand drinking experience. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA

Balanced with good dose of sweet malt with some chocolate and minimal bitterness. Many coffee beers come off overly bitter and astringent, but this is not at all. Smooth and full of coffee. Aroma of coffee, caramel malt, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is smooth, creamy and lightly sweet. Has a mild roasted coffee overtone but yet still remains nicely balanced and complex. Has a pleasant, lightly bitter dry finish. Tanker12 (129), USA

It has a dark rich aroma and a solid complex taste. It lacks the oilness of some of the richer coffee brews. Very well balanced and will deffinatly look for this beer again. Poured a dark cola color with a small beige head that fades to a collar fairly quickly and leaves minimal lacing.
Big roasted coffee smell to start with a little bit of malts underneath. Hops are barely detectable. It’s definitely all about the coffee in the nose.
The taste is a bit sweeter and more balanced than the aroma with coffee still playing a major role but with the sweet caramel malts forming a strong backbone. Hops are a bit more present than in the aroma.
The mouthfeel is smooth with strong carbonation.
This is an extremely unique doppelbock and as a big coffee lover, this one really worked well for me. A great beer. satan165 (599), River Grove, Illinois, USA

Aroma of wet coffee grounds. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Flavor is very strong in dry, roasty coffee, with accents of nuts, peat, and chocolate. Moderate amount of residual sweetness, which works well to bring out the nuances. Very nice beer. Has a homebrew like quality to it.
