Aug 12, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and garthicus, via trade with Boutip. Deep mahogany pour, hazy, smallish frothy off-white head. Dry roast nutty malt aroma, acidic and herbal - the taste introduces hazelnut coffee notes with some tart fruit and cream - really simple and appealing. Somewhat light bodied, solidly acidic, a nice long bitter/roasty finish. Very, very drinkable.

Jun 1, 2009 12 oz. bottle: Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head that leaves nice lacing. Malty aroma has the coffee and expresso. Flavor starts out sweet and finishes with a chocolate coffee bean candy flavor. Another good one from Dark Horse.

Mar 15, 2009 Bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a tan head. Awesome aroma, strong coffee dominates. Chocolate, coffee in the flavor. More coffee in the aroma than in the flavor - but still pretty decent brew.

Mar 28, 2008 Bottle from Pepsican. Strong fresh coffee aroma with light smoke is the aroma. This beer had good maliness to it. Light dark fruit and grape juice notes followed by a nice fresh coffee finish.

Dec 31, 2008 Darker brown color with a sweet aroma of dark breads, coffee, and prunes. Flavor is quite sweet with a big coffee/burnt sugar and chocolate mix. Flavorful, but thin at the end. Nice coffee brew.

Aug 19, 2008 12oz, can’t tell if this was a gift or via trade all I know is I didn’t buy it myself. Pours orangey brown with a tan ring. nose is very much dopplebocky with a good amount of coffee. Taste is sweet, malty and coffee infsed. Tasty coffee dopplebock.

Feb 18, 2008 On tap at Crunchy’s in East Lansing. Poured a bronze/brown color. Up front is caramel, a little chocolate, then fading into a light coffee finish. This came together better than I expected. Nice job.

Dec 9, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a dimpled mug. This dopplebock poured a murky, ruby brown hue with a short-lived head of tan foam that settled into a lasting ring. A small amount of slippery lacing was left behind. The aroma had a very pronouced note of cold pressed coffee. A solid dose of caramel and dark fruit also made an appearance. The flavor contained a smooth coffee note (not bitter like alot of other coffee-infused beers), dark fruit skins, caramel, and a hint of baker’s chocolate. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had light carbonation. Filling for sure, but yet quite drinkable. Very enjoyable. Nice to see the guys at Dark Horse give a lager a try.
