Poured a medium and clear brownish color with a red tint and smaller sized off white head. Aromas of coffee, smoke, ashtray, nuts, and caramel. I liked the way the coffee mixed in the aromas (then again, I am a sucker for coffee beers). Tastes of caramel, vanilla cream, lighter coffee, and nutty. I’ll give the apperance and extra point for the cool label. Firemoose15 (540), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2008 12 oz bottle, via lb4lb. Pours a slightly cloudy amber body under a one finger fizzy off-white head that faded to a partial covering. A good bit of carbonation. Nice light-roast coffee with nutty toasted husky malt. Some light hops. Not as intense with the coffee as I was hoping, but it’s still nice. The flavor is quite unique, the coffee really balances the Doppelbock sweetness to make it extremely drinkable. Burnt caramel, chalky yeast, a touch of alcohol and cereal grains. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a very slight clinginess on the finish and lots of fizzy carbonation. I liked this, a little unusual, but it works for me. Bartzilla (443), San Diego, California, USA

Not too huge on the coffee and finishes a lot cleaner than I expected it to. Kinda sweet, actually. I’d drink this again. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA

Poured a dark ruby with some bronze highlights, small pale beige head of sudsy foam, minimal amount of laced sticking.
An interesting nose of lightly roasted nutty coffee with caramel and toffee in the background. Further whiffs reveal a subtle sweet fruitiness, purple grapes and raisins.
Smooth moderate body with a enough carbonation to give it a light creaminess. The roasted light coffee provides a mild nutty bitterness to this doppelbock, that mellow bitterness you find at the bottom of a pot of properly brewed coffee, one that hasn’t been over boiled to death (a problem in my workplace). The coffee flavor is offset by the sweet maltiness, caramelized sugar and toffee. A light fruitiness, namely dried raisins, helps add a soften sweetness to the taste. The acidity is pretty mild overall and the finish is dry with just a briefly lingering taste of coffee and caramel.
This is better than I was expecting, I would have never thought to infuse a doppelbock with coffee, but this works. I do think the coffee infusion somewhat limits the drinkability though, I can only drink so much coffee before wanting to switch to something else.

Aroma was strong with spent coffee grounds. Taste was pretty bold with coffee and not much else. There were notes of toffee and vanilla. I was quite surprised by this. Probably one of the lightest color coffee beer I’ve ever had. Nice mouthfeel and bitter finish. emacgee (1884), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Thanks JCB. Pours a ruby copper with a thin fizzy tan head. The nose has a nice smooth coffee aroma, light alcohol, malty, sweet, raisiny, caramel, develops a nice malty complexity with warmth. The flavor is sharp and spicy, prominent alcoholic warmth, some hop bitterness, sweet malty background, coffee flavor is a little more subdued than the aroma. Prominent alcoholic warmth on the mouthfeel.
