| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 21, 2008 tap at the Dark Horse 4 Elf festival - Pours black with a thin tan head and has a big roast malt and chocolate aroma. It has a sweet, chocolate rich taste with just some mild hops making itself known in the finish. It is thick and full-bodied and the 12% abv is buried. I would have guessed it was 10% or less. beerinmarch (2810), Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Black pour with a tall smooth brown head. Big dark chocolate nose, soft hops, soft licorice and mild charred character. Very smooth palate, mild alcohol burn to it, but doesnt come off as 12 percent abv. Excellent roasted malt flavor, layers of chocolate and port. Really nice imperial stout. GeneralGao (3057), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured an opaque black color. Thick pour. The head was chocolatey brown with an orange tint and reduced relatively quickly. Smelled of chocolate, alcohol, and subdued pine. Medium to full bodied and slightly sweet. Lowish carbonation. Roasty bitterness attenuated the sugars somewhat. Tasted of chocolate liqueur, burnt stick, and citrus fruit. Roasty, bitter finish.
