| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Pours out black with brown color head that fades quickly leaving a bubbly deposit on whatever it touches. Aroma is similar to Duck Rabbit BP with traces of dark fruit, light anise, french roast coffee, alcohol and chocolate. Taste is milk and semi-sweet chocolate, dark fruit, light charred wood, coffe and alcohol. Palate is pretty light on the tongue to the point where it is almost too thin, but the finish does not make this mistake. Low carbonation. A good impy. Big yummy smoky coffee nose. Some nice smokey burnt malts as well. Taste is full of coffee, and deep dark malts. there is bitterness that I’m guessing comes from some of the hops. Overall very good albeit somewhat one dimensional. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 22, 2008 This was black in color and poured a thin brown head that faded rather quickly. The aromas were of milk chocolate, crème and roasted coffee. In the mouth this had good concentration of flavor while remaining light-on-its-feet. The flavors followed the nose and ended with a slight bitter hoppiness which again kept the beer feeling fresh. masonjer (564), Holt, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Poured black with no head. Smell was coffee and roasty. Taste was quite a bit of coffee, traditional roasty character, and some backing hops. Well put together and enjoyable. Another good effort from DH. hombrepalo (780), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Bottle @ the Maproom. I’m not a stout drinker but I thought this was one of the top Istouts I have tasted (RB claires thirsty and FKBS). Poured like every stout would BLACK, dark brown head. The nose is of dried plum and blackstrap molasses. Heavily burnt, bitter flavor with notes of ash, alcohol, prune extract and blackstrap molasses. Ultra full-bodied and chewy with pillow-soft carbonation. Lengthy, scorched, bitter finish. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Thanks again to the STL guys for sharing this fine imperial stout. Pours very very dark with a small dark burnt orange head. The aroma has heavy dark chocolate, some green apple, roasty malt and coffee bitterness. Medium / full body with some soft carbonation that’s lightly prickly. The flavor starts a bit citric with dark chocolate, apply, heavy roast with sharpness prevailing. The finish has lots of char and bitter chocolate. This is a very nice imperial stout. doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 14, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a pretty thick looking black color with virtually no brown head, specks of lace. Smells of alcohol and roasty chocolatey malts, fishy as well. The fishiness comes from kind of burnt smelling/tasting malts. Tastes of alcohol and roasty/sweet malts, dark chocolate. Surprisingly thin body with ok carbonation. Good beer but it smells a little funny to me. scoobysnak (249), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Pours absolutely black. Not even a hint of light can be seen through it. Almost no head but what head there is is a very dark color, one of the darker heads I’ve ever seen. Smell is typical RIS, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and a buttery smooth caramel smell that I can barely notice. Very different, extremely smooth on the palate, I get the chocolate and the smooth buttery caramel, no hops that I noticed mainly just chocolate and malts. Fairly thick and so silky as it goes over your tongue. Hides the 10 ABV very well. A well done beer all around.
