Commercial Description:
It's big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.
Previously known as Dark Horse Imperial Stout.

Pours a near black in color with almost no head to be found.
Smell is some dark cocoa and some hops coming through as well. The hops are throwing off the smell a bit though. Taste is roasted black malt and some slight coffee as well. Mouthfeel is tad thin too.

Bonus beer from AllAboutStout. Pours thick, oily black with a deep tan head. Nose is awesome with roasted malt and dark chocolate. Flavor is similar, with the roasted malt standing out, but there is also a bit of granny smith apple. It was really a tart little surprise! Finish is subtly roasted bitterness and dry, with a bit of an alcohol burn.

Nice dark coffee pour with no head. Some brown head arises with some rousing bringing aromas of chocolate and coffee. Very roasty coffee flavor, slight estery banana, some tart fruit (cran apple, just barely though). Finishes with some pleasant bitter hops. Body is not thick or syrupy at all. very drinkable a delicious.

Pours a charcoal, chocolate brown with the thinest layer of creamy burnt brown head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is definite molasses, chocolate, and rich espresso. Flavor is of roasted malts, notes of molasses, espresso foam and dark dark chocolate. A very rich creamy flavor and body. Gonna have to take this one slow at 10 percent, and damn is it good.

On tap at Blind Pig in Champaign a while back. Poured black with small head. Roasty with coffee and chocolate aroma. Not as thick as I expected, but the flavor was good, especially after warming up.

Hmmm. Don’t quite know what to make of this. Expectations were high and perhaps clouded judgement. Is most likely better than my rating and I may rerate it at a later date. Still believe Dark Horse is a force to be reckoned with. This came out of the bottle like 10W-40, which is good. No head to speak of. Aroma had notes of chocolate, molasses, espresso, citrus, and alcohol. Medium to Full body. The flavor echoed the aroma. Nice, roasted coffee with some chocolate and a twist. Will check back on this.

Thanks to hoppymeal for this beer. Pours an obsidian black with very small head. Vanilla, coffee, roasted malts, licorice, apples, nuts and cocoa in the nose. Lots going on in this beer. Taste is rich coffee and malty chocolate with some hoppy fruit near the finish. Not a heavy mouthfeel, which makes this an easy drinking imperial stout. Awesome beer from and awesome Ratebeerian, thanks hoppymeal!
