| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2009 Bottle from United (Cardinal) Liquors in Frankfort, Illinois: This pours an opaque, intensely dark mahogany body with a brown film - then skinny ring - then nothing for a head. No lace. The aroma is dark, sweet roasted malt, bakers chocolate, and a rooty earthiness. The flavor sees the addition of some vanilla, bitter coffee, and lots of alcohol. It finishes sticky sweet with an earthy bitterness and a steady alcohol burn. Pretty good. markwise (1200), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Pours black-brown with a thin tan head, fades to a dark brown film of bubbles, no permanent head. Aroma is faint. What’s there is ash, smoke, barbeque. Some alcohol in the nose. Flavor beings with a nice blend of licorice-like roasted elements and hops bitterness, segues to and finishes on dark chocolate. Very thick on the palate, noticeable alcohol heat. yobdoog (1543), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Dark brown body with a sufficient tan head. Aromas of bakers chocolate, light roast, butterscotch, and some fig. Rich flavored beer, and for 12%, the ABV is well hidden. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Shared with funkybrewster. Most recent bottle I believe. Pours a glossy near black with a minimal frothy tan bubbly head. Aroma is a bit fruity, tons of rich molasses, buttery banana, chocolate, phenolic. Flavor is also quite sweet and phenolic, over ripe banana, rich dark molasses, lightly buttery, sweet chocolate. Medium/full bodied quite syrupy with lump carbonation. I have a feeling this was better in previous years. tmongoose (39), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
