Commercial Description:
It's big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.
Previously known as Dark Horse Imperial Stout.

Rating 1089. Bottle picked up from Sunsinger in Champaign, Illinois. Completely opaque with a difficult to arouse milk chocolatey head that is short lasting. Nose of alcohol and sweetness. Taste malty, roasted with a good kick of alchol. Not so sure about the hops, the sweetness comes from either malts or hops, not too sure. Overall, very pleasant. Going to be a good one to have in the winter.

Black pour with a little chocolate froth on top. Light, fruity aroma - surprising for an imperial. Another weird, artsy Dark Horse label, and I do not mean that disrespectfully. This is a mighty fine stout! Lots of coffee and chocolate malt flavor, along with cherry and prune compote. Solid, dry hops kick in too, but the marshmallow sweetness lingers on the palate and in the mind. ABV was not on the bottle, and I was surprised that it was so high. Excellent stuff (altho not an everyday beer).

Pours an opaque jet black color with a dark brown head. Aroma is caramel, molasses, plum, chocolate, and some alcohol. Flavor is caramel, plum, molasses, brown sugar, chocolate, and a bitter syrupy finish.

Bottle, about a year or so of age on this one. Pours a solid black, small, forced tan head that dissapates rather quickly. Roasted malt, chocolate and a subdued touch of hops in the background of the aroma. Creamy, roasted malt, sweet chocolate and again a touch of hops in the flavor profile. Great mouthfeel, thick and kinda oily and a slightly bitter finish, really well done.

Aroma is reminiscent of Surly Darkness, a lot of sweet malt over something of a surprisngly robust hop presence. Caramel, raisin, vanilla, and the aformentioned hop sweetness are key. Apperance is great, black, minimal head, would rank a bit higher with a bit more frothy goodness. Taste is heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, and if it is possible to taste thick, this is it. Palate is appropriately thick and near flat, just where I want an impy stout. Full body, thick feel, soft carbonation, long finish. Yes this is my first review using the assistance, so bear with me. Overall a good beer, though a bit on the sweet end of my taste for imperial stouts.

This is one dark beer. Pours black with a rapidly dissipating dark brown head. Aroma is chocolate liqueur with hints of licorice and vanilla. The flavor is a bit molasses like, rather sweet, but not too cloying.
