RateBeer Summer (Toronto) '02: Deep hazy orange color with lots of large chunks, spicy aroma, fizzy mouthfeel. Has a nice depth to it compared to most one-dimensional Summer Wheats.

Shakira. Definitely the best wheat beer that I’ve tasted - and I don’t prefer wheat beers. But this wheat has more to chew on that most. Strong flavors and spicy undercurrent.

A very spicy affair, reminiscent of a Bell’s Oberon mixed with ground black pepper. One of the more ’bitey’ wits I’ve had in awhile. This beer’s courtesy of PsychProf, who is known to love a good wit. The quality is evident, even if the beer’s not quite my thing. There’s maybe a hint of sourness under all the spice.

Very enjoyable. The bottle I drank yesterday had a nice crisp spiciness and subtle fruit notes that I really liked. Well worth drinking, especially in the summer heat.

A complex of perfumey, nectarines and some spice component before it’s down the hatch. Surprisingly light bodied but with coriander/cumin. More citrus as it warms. Now it’s turned into a tripel -- the spice and citric element combined with the color. It’s undeniable. Still a bit light bodied to get seriously into. If you’re having fun in the sun and don’t mind a thrist quencher that provides a bender -- this ones for you. Truly delicious.

Very Flavorful and spicy. Nice citrus flavor along with a peppery edge.

’Flavorful’ is dead on, Michael - this is a summer beer of a different order than their fluffier Belgian Amber. This one has some outrageous bitter and peppery edges, a strong citusy character, and almost enough body and malt backbone to stand up to all of this flavour. Some salt and sweet, too - it’s complex as all get out, as busy as the bees in the orchards this time of year. Can’t say I’m a huge fan yet, but I’ll be having more, to be sure. One thing that must be an inside joke is the label - two mailboxes in the morning sun?
