Commercial Description:
Why is the Grim Reaper holding a mailbox? Well, that mailbox is from a dead Dark Horse beer. The Grim Reaper better know as "Death" was quite fond of our classic Sapient Summer Wheat Ale. When we changed it into a Belgian Style Triple, Death thought it would only be appropriate to bring something from that beer into this beer. So he picked the mailbox, and we weren’t about to argue with him. You can say what you want about him, but that Death sure has a big heart. So anyway...we brewed this beer with a Trappist yeast strain so it is very traditional. The flavors are incredibly complex with notes of mild fruit and finishes with a bit of clove. Although this beer is higher in alcohol it is very smooth and finishes dry on the palate.

Bottle: Clear gold, light head and lacing. Nose of bright esters, lots of citrus, some banana and yeast. Light alcohol, a bit much of the banana peel. The flavor is light and sweet, again, lots of esters and a vanilla note. The finish is creamy. Ok. Not enough citrus or bright carbonation.

Bottle. Hazy amber/orange with a small head. Good lacing. Yeasty banana and clove. Fruity; apple, pear, sweet orange? Honey sweetness with a bit of caramel.

Bottle. Like other Dark Horse beers, this one has a beautiful nose: very sweet with candied fruits (apricots and peaches). Slighty floral. Pours a cloudy copper orange with a creamy white head. Loads of malty sweetness on the palate. That eventually subsides and notes of spicy wheat and yeasty dryness emerge. Quite full bodied with average carbonation. Decent Tripel.

Thanks to Styles and Shigadeyo for trading this to me. Pours a darkish golden and has a small white head. Aroma is citrus, spice, wheat and malts. Flavor is ripened fruits (bananna), hints of clove, spices, sweet malts. Very enjoyable. Thanks again guys for the nice trade.

Thanks to Bob, Michelle, and mostly my baby Jana for the 12th annual Indiana Microbrewers Festival today! On tap @ the fest. Nose of yeast, spice & alcohol, berries. The brew is a sparkling honey amber. The fully lasting creamy white head leaves excellent lace. The brew is fruity in the front, warm alcohol bleeds through the middle, the finish is peppery. The medium body is syrupy and soft. The finish feels alcoholic.

Aroma is first thing fruity, pears and apples and maybe a little pineapple, hint of doughy yeast ,not that strong, also you can detect in the aroma that this is going to have a sweetness to it. Taste is fruity ,sugary, with some yeast components and spice. The sweetness and fruit has a charm to it,like Hi-C jumped into the Belgian Ale business. Its probaly an excellent intro Belgian style brew.
