Commercial Description:
Why is the Grim Reaper holding a mailbox? Well, that mailbox is from a dead Dark Horse beer. The Grim Reaper better know as "Death" was quite fond of our classic Sapient Summer Wheat Ale. When we changed it into a Belgian Style Triple, Death thought it would only be appropriate to bring something from that beer into this beer. So he picked the mailbox, and we weren’t about to argue with him. You can say what you want about him, but that Death sure has a big heart. So anyway...we brewed this beer with a Trappist yeast strain so it is very traditional. The flavors are incredibly complex with notes of mild fruit and finishes with a bit of clove. Although this beer is higher in alcohol it is very smooth and finishes dry on the palate.

Aroma is first thing fruity, pears and apples and maybe a little pineapple, hint of doughy yeast ,not that strong, also you can detect in the aroma that this is going to have a sweetness to it. Taste is fruity ,sugary, with some yeast components and spice. The sweetness and fruit has a charm to it,like Hi-C jumped into the Belgian Ale business. Its probaly an excellent intro Belgian style brew.

Pours a ruddy golden apple cider with a galaxy swirl floating on the liquid. No lacing. Aromas are sweet and sugary with pear syrup, apricot, sugar, and a modest peppery kick. Alcohol fumes loiter above the din, giving fair warning. Ample sweetness in the flavor, with a sticky fruit cocktail syrup clinging to everything. Some yeasty bread dough appears. FInishes with a crackly peppercorn grinding its way down your throat. Warming, but not an obnoxious alcohol fire. I really like this one, even though it’s sweet enough to make my teeth hurt..

Bottle pours out a cloudy gold topped with a white head. A nice yeast and spice on the nose. Tast of some fruit and sweetness. Thanks Jake

Bottle: Pale gold with a small white head. Nose is fruity with citrus and yeast. A bit airy. The taste is a blend of spices with fruitiness and yeast. Some apple, pear, and cloves stand out. Nice Belgian, thanks Eithcubes.

Golden color. Smell of bannanas, sugar, spice, yeast, alcohol, metalic, caramel and orange peal. Taste of yeast, light bannana, malt, brown sugar, metalic, alcohol, caramel and spice. Tastes more like a malt liqour to me.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Ughsmash. Thanks, Jason! Pours a hazy, medium honey-golden color; fluffy white head with good lacing. Spicy clove notes dominate the aroma, along with a hefty amount of yeast and dough. Relaxed carbonation in a medium-to-full mouthfeel: somewhat less dry and peppery than I’d expect from a tripel, with a dense, chewy malt core (honey, doughy esters); there’s a bit of white pepper in there as well, but there’s more of a pleasant sweetness here than expected. Medium finish, showing some cloves and dough and spice.

Pours a hazed orange with perhaps a few too many little bubbles and a thin dense white film of a head. The nose is sweet with malt. A bit of that apple juice sort of funk, some cinnamon, wheaty esters(a bit of banana and cloves). A bit yeasty. Perhaps a bit too juicy with the malty fruitiness to be in the vein of a traditional tripel. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Smooth foam fills my mouth, yet this certainly isn’t fizzy. The flavors are again a bit more wheaty than a tripel is in general, though it’s still rather satisfying. Big round fruity sweet malt. Cloves, banana, and some cinnamony esters are heavy. There’s a nice creaminess to this. The alcohol is well hidden. The finish is again very much like a weizen bock perhaps. Big wheat notes, not dry as per the style, but still, pretty tasty.

Pours a thick, golden/amber under a nice fluffy head. Big, rich banana esters with a hint of sour vegetals and low barnyard notes. Thick, sweet and potent. Lots of ripe banana & Belgian candi sugar with just a touch of bitterness to keep it from cloying. At times, the sweet mixture of malt and yeasts rings of sugar cookies. Very good.
