Commercial Description:
Why is the Grim Reaper holding a mailbox? Well, that mailbox is from a dead Dark Horse beer. The Grim Reaper better know as "Death" was quite fond of our classic Sapient Summer Wheat Ale. When we changed it into a Belgian Style Triple, Death thought it would only be appropriate to bring something from that beer into this beer. So he picked the mailbox, and we weren’t about to argue with him. You can say what you want about him, but that Death sure has a big heart. So anyway...we brewed this beer with a Trappist yeast strain so it is very traditional. The flavors are incredibly complex with notes of mild fruit and finishes with a bit of clove. Although this beer is higher in alcohol it is very smooth and finishes dry on the palate.

Draft @ Cole’s in Buffalo, didn’t see the tap handle so I assume this is the DH Tripel I ordered. Golden yellow, with a small whi e head. Muted sweet alcoholic aroma, bit of pale malt. Sweet, moderately alcoholic flavour with plenty of pale malt. Medium palate (3+). Touch simplistic at times but quite servicable tripel, and one you could drink a fair bit of. Pleasant.

tap at brewpub-clear light yellow with a fizzy white head around the rim of the glass. lemony nose but very light when cold. opend up a bit more when it warmed. lots of white grape and lemon notes. flavors of grains of paradise, pineapples ginger and light alcohol. body is a bit over-carbonated with a biting tingle on the tongue. I will revisit this beer from the bottle to see if it is any different.

Yeast and malt in the aroma, cloudy yellow, pours a small head, which is unusual for a tripel. Taste has yeast, wheat, malt and pear. Light bodied, rather syrupy sweet. Nice, but it doesn’t suit the style. Thank You mds.

Courtesy of weeare138. Bright, shiny gold body with a steady, visible yeast load and sudsy, white head. Aroma has lots of bold white wine characters including grapes, organic honey, and melon. Interesting blend of Belgian ale and phantom lager yeast elements. Medium sweet with abundant honey notes, but nice underlying depth. A solid American tripel, on the sweet side, but distinct and good.

Appears a transparent gold with a small white head that fades into a plentiful bubbly head. Smell is of candy sugar, mild vanilla, mild citrus, Belgian yeast, and ripe peach. Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a sugary, apricot, fresh bread, peach, pear, and floral notes. Mouthfeel is sweet, sugary, medium bodied, and warming.

Bottle courtesey of Jimbowood: This is possibly the weakest looking head I have ever seen on a beer. It’s barely bubbly at all. There is lots of nice fruity flavors going on, but overall, this beer suffers from being way too sweet, and nearly flat. Yet another example of an American brewer that has no business trying to brew a Belgian Style Ale.

Bottle. Pours a slightly foggy orange bodywith a bubbly thin white head. The aroma has some cereal, sweet dusty pear, pineapple, and hints of caramel. Touches of tart fruit flavour in a creamy yeast body. Quite sweet and there was generally something uneasy about this. Purchased at Bello Vino in Ann Arbor in April 2006.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle, head was a little off-white, almost a fingers worth, the bubbles dissipated but hung around the edges of the glass. This tripple is a cloudy amber with some red, looks like dark raw apple juice, there is sediment around the bottom of the glass. Sweet fragrance with noticeable apples and pears, taste is sweet with a dry finish, small bite from the hops in the finish, medium mouthfeel, mouthfeel was a little less then I prefer, I can feel the alcohol warmth in my mouth, nose and down my throat with just about every sip, nice.
