Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Nov 6, 2009 A reddish copper ale with a thin light moka head. In aroma, a light peated malt with light butterscotch. In mouth, a caramel malt, peaty and nice, light fruity esters, a bit ligth but good. On tap at Clarke’s Ale House, Syracuse, Oct. 25 2009. beercamel (81), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 29, 2009 pours dark amber / brown with hardly any head. The aroma is great and sweet, cherry scent. Has white chunks floating around. The taste is awesome. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Sep 9, 2009 Growler from Kevin. Pours a rather clear reddish amber with a tan head. Nose is a bit of cherry and caramel and a touch of chocolate. Flavor is very rich and malty up front with cherry pit, chocolate and caramel and a nice bready toastiness. Finished with perfectly balanced hops. A fantastic example of the style. michael-pollack (2601), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 29, 2009 Draught at TJ’s: Lightly sweet aroma of malts, caramel, slight dark ripe fruits, slight cocoa, and light chocolate. Poured deep amber/brown in color with a small to medium-sized, light brown head that diminished but lasted around the edges. Slightly hazy. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malts, slight dark ripe fruit, light cocoa, light chocolate, slight raisin, and a hint of molasses. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Cocoa and malt finish is dry. Not boozy, and not a Scotch Ale IMO. 9.75%ABV is totally hidden. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 18, 2009 bottle, muddy brown with no head, scotchy caramel aroma, flavors of caramel, peat, morels, celeryseed, thin finish Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2009 good one really, on tap at The Hunt Club. This is about a year aged as an old season. Above average mouthfeel from a creaminess, with really chocolate coming through. A tad of roast, but I was not finding the smoke. Not what I would expect from a scotch, nevertheless pleasant. popery (132), San Francisco, California, USA Aug 2, 2009 Nice Scotch Ale. Strong, sweet, spicy and malty. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky. Vinous, fruity character to the malt. Cinnamon and spices in the finish. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Jul 17, 2009 Pours an expected dark brown, cloudy, with thin tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate, and slight smoke. Flavor matches, but has surprisingly little complexity to it. Alotgether a very drinkable scotch ale, but nothing special.
