Commercial Description:
For those of you who don't know who "Scotty Karate" is... He is a local one man band who plays an amazing slurry of honky tonk influenced, punk country songs. His voice is amazing as well as his high energy shows. (Check him out @ www.scottykarate.com) So, we decided to make a beer and name it in his honor. This beer is a big, full bodied Scottish ale. It is 9.75% alc. but it is very smooth and balanced. Since Scotty is also very passionate about beer I asked him to write a description for you, so from the man himself... Aroma: Smells like A fresh caramel apple with a hint of cinnamon inside of cranberry shortbread. Or maybe fresh home made hard candy (from home economics class-7th grade). Flavor: Tastes like a smokey chocolate chip cookie, wild roadside cherry-asparagus, woody, crispy leaf on a fall day.

Pours reddish Dark with very little head that dissapears quickly, taste is a fruity sweet malt, the label mentions butterscotch but I cannot seem to taste it. Very good Scotch Ale.

Deep cloudy amber color with a quickly dissipating tan head. Mild roasted aroma with an extremely smooth, rich and malty taste. Has a nice sweet and slightly fruity finish.

Pours dark brown with virtually no head. Initial aroma is that of unpasteurized fresh cider then some tiny hints of campfire smokyness, reminds me of a crisp autumn night (edit. That was before even reading the Com. Desc.!). Flavor is quite earthy, malty yet dry. I prefer a bit more sweetness in my Scotch ales. Flavor kind of falls flat after the aroma.

I don’t think this is a BAD beer but I didn’t care much for it. I liked the initial flavor but something (scotch) was killing this for me. I think I will stick to the FFF if I find I need a fix of Scotch/Scottish Ale.

Pours a very dark brown with some ruby highlights Little to no head on the pour. Smell is caramelized malts and a bit boozy. Taste is more of the malts, a good amount of mustiness and a bit of alcohol/band aid showing up as well. Medium and nice mouthfeel. Another good offering from Dark Horse.

Brown pour into my gordon highland glass. Small tan head. Aroma is very nice. Some hints of honey, liqueur, caramel, stone fruit and I also get hints of maple syrup. Flavor is a bit high on the alcohol, but is wonderfully sweet and complex. I get syrupy notes, caramel, dried dark fruit and there is just a hint of bitterness to balance. Slow sipper.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a caramel brown color. Thin, off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel. Nice creamy mouthfeel, very smooth. Flavor is full of dark fruits, caramel malt, maple syrup. Finish is a bit warming alcohol and some bitter notes.

12 oz. bottle from mibirder! Thank you Sean! Pours a ruddy chocolate brown with almost no head. Not much to look at. Complex aroma with caramel, earthy and fruity notes. Taste is caramel, toffee, and an earthy woodiness. Some subtle fruity notes, mostly berry and raisin, with a very subtle hop bitterness in the very end of the finish. Medium bodied. Very nice.
