Commercial Description:
For those of you who don't know who "Scotty Karate" is... He is a local one man band who plays an amazing slurry of honky tonk influenced, punk country songs. His voice is amazing as well as his high energy shows. (Check him out @ www.scottykarate.com) So, we decided to make a beer and name it in his honor. This beer is a big, full bodied Scottish ale. It is 9.75% alc. but it is very smooth and balanced. Since Scotty is also very passionate about beer I asked him to write a description for you, so from the man himself... Aroma: Smells like A fresh caramel apple with a hint of cinnamon inside of cranberry shortbread. Or maybe fresh home made hard candy (from home economics class-7th grade). Flavor: Tastes like a smokey chocolate chip cookie, wild roadside cherry-asparagus, woody, crispy leaf on a fall day.

Brown pour into my gordon highland glass. Small tan head. Aroma is very nice. Some hints of honey, liqueur, caramel, stone fruit and I also get hints of maple syrup. Flavor is a bit high on the alcohol, but is wonderfully sweet and complex. I get syrupy notes, caramel, dried dark fruit and there is just a hint of bitterness to balance. Slow sipper.

12 oz. bottle from mibirder! Thank you Sean! Pours a ruddy chocolate brown with almost no head. Not much to look at. Complex aroma with caramel, earthy and fruity notes. Taste is caramel, toffee, and an earthy woodiness. Some subtle fruity notes, mostly berry and raisin, with a very subtle hop bitterness in the very end of the finish. Medium bodied. Very nice.

Musky smoked dark fruit and honey aroma. Interesting. Taste is a wild congiliation of full-bodied sweet malt with a bitter bite towards the end. Creepy. Alcohol is well-hidden and can sneak up on you. Luckily, it is difficult to stomach more than a few of these babies. Very enjoyable and worth seeking out.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with foamy off-white head. Nice lace. Big caramel malt aromas, toffee, and spice. Dark fruit, sweet malt, butterscotch, and a hint of chocolate in the flavor. Alcohol is apparent but not overpowering. Full bodied and chewy. Finish is smooth and sweet with slight bitterness. Very good!

The pour is a murky, cloudy caramel brown color with auburn highlights at the edges. A small, foamy, khaki colored head dissipates completely in a virtual instant. A complete lack of lacing hints at low carbonation, while substantial, viscous legs suggest a formidable body. The aroma is really nice, with a smoky, peaty quality that permeates notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, cream, cherries and figs. Flavors include caramel, toffee, chocolate, and vanilla, with a lightly bitter, earthy hop profile, and notes of dark, sweet fruits. The scotch-like, smoked peat profile is omnipresent, lending its signature, lightly salty smoke profile to the mix. The silky smooth, velvety palate confirms the low carbonation, and it works absolutely perfectly with these flavors. I really enjoyed this beer a great deal. Excellent Scotch Ale.

(Sampled 7-7-08) 12 oz. bottle poured into tumbler- poured non transparent murky brown, musky aroma of malt with notes of peat and hardwood in the background. Hits the mouth with heavy medium body, the malt comes through cleanly and very strong, an almost true scotch like quality to it, finish lingers around and makes you remember what you just had. I likey!!!
