| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2008 12 oz. bottle - thanks to kryptic for the trade; pours orange-brown with suspended haze throughout; almost no head and aromas are musky, woody with sugar and alcohol obvious; rich and deep overall; lots of flavor and you can taste the bigness, but body is a little thin for my liking; sweet and dry finish; rich malts and sugars; very nice porterhouse (1163), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 6, 2008 (Bottle via trade with EithCubes, thanks Mike!, cellared for 10 mos. after trade) Pours slightly murky dark amber with less than a finger of biege head that recedes mostly to edges. Fairly rich malty aroma of toffee and caramel with pine, juniper and mint hoppiness. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, lightly syrupy, a slight bit of fizziness, fairly low carbonation. Nice light webby rings of lacing. Taste is strong malt - caramel and toffee, slight licorice perhaps. The ABV is noticeable but not overpowering, so somewhat hot. Medium bitter with taste of pine and mint. There might be a slight hint of peat but it’s way in the background. Nice strong satisfying beer. unclemattie (2441), Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 29, 2008 12oz bottle. Light brown color. Aroma of some freshly proofed dough. Sweet malt. Lots of dough + bread. Could be very balanced but just too much dough. Biscuity. NachlamSie (1653), Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2008 On Tap. Pours dark amber, near opaque with a small head. I find rich vanilla, pepper, and bourbon hints in the aroma. This is a pretty hearty brew with a creamy palate. Plenty of tasteful vanilla is in the flavor along with biscuits and a startling sharp hop sting. A few sips easily allows the malts to wash over my palate and a lingering charred oaken flavor keeps things from being too sweet. Rciesla (3880), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 18, 2008 Bottle. Strange bottle art. Pours alight brown body with an off white head. Aroma is sweet malty, and boozy, some caramel and tainted fruit as well. Slightly syrup. okay. mcbackus (755), Merritt Island, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 10, 2008 bottle: pours a dark cola brown with a small thin tan head. aroma is full of caramel malts soem raisins adn candy sugar, smokey and fruit also. very nice.
flavour is thick and very heavy on the palate with plenty of vinous dark fruits (raisins and dates) touches of smoke and plenty of earthiness, the malts are sweet like sugar with a little toffee flavoured malts, pretty good scotch.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 10, 2008 Bottle thanks to Mr McDermott. Pours a dark ruby hue with a tiny head. The aroma is just amazing sweet sugars and vinous fruity aspects, some smokey earthy notes too. The flavor is likewise quite complex, tons of sweet fruit, a alcohol warmth, dry earthy peat, smoke, some very sweet sugars and caramel. As some others have said overripe fruit does fit the taste well, but there is a lot more. Pretty damn good, a lot to like.
