Commercial Description:
For those of you who don't know who "Scotty Karate" is... He is a local one man band who plays an amazing slurry of honky tonk influenced, punk country songs. His voice is amazing as well as his high energy shows. (Check him out @ www.scottykarate.com) So, we decided to make a beer and name it in his honor. This beer is a big, full bodied Scottish ale. It is 9.75% alc. but it is very smooth and balanced. Since Scotty is also very passionate about beer I asked him to write a description for you, so from the man himself... Aroma: Smells like A fresh caramel apple with a hint of cinnamon inside of cranberry shortbread. Or maybe fresh home made hard candy (from home economics class-7th grade). Flavor: Tastes like a smokey chocolate chip cookie, wild roadside cherry-asparagus, woody, crispy leaf on a fall day.

Bottle courtesy of pepsican. I love scotch ales, and this would likely be my #3 behind Alesmith Wee Heavy and Founders Backwoods Bastard. Maybe #4 if I include some Old Chub in the mix....but anyway, the description is pretty spot on: smells like a fresh caramel apple with cinnamon. That about sums it up. A little smokey, caramel malt present, sugar/dried fruit. Good stuff.

12 oz bottle from Jimbowood. Dark brown color, no aroma. Flavor is malty, thick, and super hot with alcohol. This one burned going down and stayed with me for at least 10 minutes. Not very good.

Red in color with not too much head. Slight smoke and peat in the aroma. Sweet and alcoholic with malts in the taste.

12 oz bottle: Nice roasted malt notes, creamy, a slight hint of bourbon, gingerbread, light fruit and spiced consist the aroma. Pours a Coca-cola like carbonated clear dark amber with minimal tan head. Taste is the malt comes through on this one with some of the fruit intermingled. palate is quite carbonated on the tongue with it finishing almost dry. Overall, Quite and interesting brew I like it. I had the pleasure of meeting Scotty Karate during a television shoot. An interesting beer for an interesting guy. Cheers!

Bottle. Pours a cloudy caramel color with minimal head. Nose is prunes and sweet caramel malt. Palate is caramel and sugar with some funk thrown in. Nothing against this beer - I’ve come to the conclusion that I just don’t like most Scotch ales.

Brown with minimal head. Aroma is great: caramel and dried apples, with a hint of peat. I can smell this all night. Flavor of caramel, dried fruits (figs maybe?) Don’t get much alcohol on the palate despite the 9.75%. Mild bitterness on the finish prevents this from being cloying. Very nice.

(Bottle) Pours a hazy amber body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of caramel, bread, cherry, peat, dried cranberries, and toffee. Flavor of caramel malt, cherry, dates, and brown sugar.

This one poured a brown color with a moderate head. The aroma is quite nutty with some caramel presence. The flavor consists of some spices, chocolate, caramel, and nutmeg. The aftertaste really brings out the alcohol in this one. Overall a very complex and tasty beer.
