| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Murky brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma of apples, cinnamon and nutmeg, along with a subtle smokiness. An almost salty smokiness hits the palate first, followed by a cherry and vanilla-laced woodsiness. Full, silky body. Some alcohol in the finsh, but still frighteningly drinkable for a brew that weighs in at almost 10% ABV. Kevster (229), Bradenton, Florida, USA

The aroma is sweet, rich, caramel, shows alcohol, a tad bit of peat smoke. The flavor shows alcohol, fairly dry. Slightly smokey, mostly on the malty side, a bit dry, tick, rich, caramel, and brown sugar. The palate is dry and warm. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 28, 2007 Bottle and served in my Unibroue tulip: Pours a beautiful mahogany hue with a fading off-white frothy head which had good lace and some oily leg upon the glassware. The aroma has big notes of peaty and toffee based malts with additional vapours of apple, allspice, juniper, herbal leafy hops, and a smack of smoke.
The taste starts with a rich bittersweet chocolate and candy apple twang over a base of pumpernickel bread. Midway I found some biting hop notes as well as a measure of brown sugar syrup. The finish has a display of light random spice and even a earthy/woody/smoky character.
I do wish that the mouth feel be a tad heavier but then it still works within the framework of the beer provided. Oily and biting, aggressive alcohol towards the end. I dig this and really want to see what the BA version has to offer. Get ya some!
