Commercial Description:
For those of you who don't know who "Scotty Karate" is... He is a local one man band who plays an amazing slurry of honky tonk influenced, punk country songs. His voice is amazing as well as his high energy shows. (Check him out @ www.scottykarate.com) So, we decided to make a beer and name it in his honor. This beer is a big, full bodied Scottish ale. It is 9.75% alc. but it is very smooth and balanced. Since Scotty is also very passionate about beer I asked him to write a description for you, so from the man himself... Aroma: Smells like A fresh caramel apple with a hint of cinnamon inside of cranberry shortbread. Or maybe fresh home made hard candy (from home economics class-7th grade). Flavor: Tastes like a smokey chocolate chip cookie, wild roadside cherry-asparagus, woody, crispy leaf on a fall day.

This pours a hazy murky reddish brown color with little head. The flavor is sweet, malty and slightly apple-like in flavor.

Loads of malt, roasted toffee, brown sugar and spices. THis is the maltiest beer ive ever had. Some smoked peat in the finish together with caramel malts and a nice dry finish.

Pours a medium brown with no real head to speak of. Slightly sweet malty aroma. Flavor was sweet with some dark fruit hints, and maybe a little caramel. It was OK.

Courtesy sprinkle. Brown/dark amber and a small tan cap. Nose of pungent, burnt, earthy malt, and subtle earthy hops. Flavor adds brown sugar, light nutmeg, more of the same hops, a bit of alcohol in the finish. Huge malt in this brew. Medium/full body, just smoother than balanced. Nice malty brew. Pair with smoked cheddar and whole grain bread or crackers.

12oz, no date. Pours a dark murky brown with a two finger beige head. Aroma of peated and toasted malt, raisins, light smoked meat and metal, some earthy hops. Flavor is again peated malt and all the aforementioned aromas with some lightly salted smoked meat and alcohol, and without the raisins and some mildly bittersweet caramel or molasses in its place. Couldn’t really place the hops, either. Wouldn’t have placed this @ 9.75%, but at least 7. Semidry finish. Medium body with some low creamy carbonation. Did enjoy this one.

Dark copper body, thin frothy tan head. Aroma is peaty sweet malts. Basic lightly smoked malt. Nice peaty/smokey malt body. Well defined malt body. Not hugely complex, but hugely malty yet well balanced and drinkable.

Pours a dark maroon, with almost no head. Kind of hazy. Very malty and doughy with hints of mustard and sausage in the smell. Kind of wierd. Pretty smooth in the taste. Smoky malts, a dull sweetness, burt wood, chestnuts, roasted walnuts, and syrup. Also get a hint of mint in the aftertaste. Alot going on with this one, it was very interesting.

Courtesy boboski. Mild peatiness to the aroma, with a stronger smoked sausage component present was my initial impression, but the peat aromas came through more as it warmed. Reddish-orange in color, thin white head. Syrupy texture, but not overly thick. Taste was definitely sweet, but not overdone. Smoke less present in taste, but detectable. Would’ve liked more peat character in taste. Slightly sweet finish. Interesting.
