Feb 2, 2009 dark mahogany pour with no head....Unbelieveable aroma of seet fruits!!......Apples, cherry, caramel and more apples. Very thick mouth feel. Sligtly sweet and easy going down.....very smooth. Can definately taste the caramel and freash cookies. Chocolate and sweet fruits on the end....the malts really start to come out as well. Can Darkhorse do no wrong?

Jan 24, 2009 [Bottle] Pours a slightly hazy ruby brown with a small beige head. Aroma is caramel/toffee, and some raisins. Flavor is lots of raisins, a bit of alcohol, and just a hint of smokiness. Just too sweet for my palate.

Jan 18, 2009 Dark pour with a tan head. Aroma is sweet candy, fruity. Flavor is dark fruit, brown sugar, some alcohol, and a hint of hops. All around an interesting and unique scotch ale.

Jan 18, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of Acknud. Pours a thick mahogany color with 1/2" receding tan head. No lacing. Nose is sweet caramel and brown sugar. Mouth feel is substantial although not heavy. Carbonation is almost nonexistent. Caramel is dominant flavor with brown sugar and molasses. Didn’t really pick up any smoke flavor. Nice sweet sipping brew.

Jan 10, 2009 Suprisingly dark brown pour, not a lot of light gets through this. No head to speak of.
Sweet brown sugar, malt and booze aromas. Booze aroma increases as it warms.
Tastes raisin, sweet malt, toffee, molasses. Maybe just a hint of smoke. Did not get any chocolate out of this. Alcohol is not as present as in the nose. Could be fuller bodied, but it is not supposed to be a heavy, though the alcohol content makes me think were thinking about it. Does have nice stickiness, which increases as it warms.
Good overall, but not great and not as good as the other dark offerings from Dark Horse.

Jan 6, 2009 bottle. Smells of old coffee and hand soap with a touch of peat.Taste is that of smoke, peat, caramel, and soap. alcohol is hidden pretty well, palate is ultra sweet and quite sticky. Somewhat cloying. a hair better than meh.

Dec 31, 2008 Darker brown with a big & sweet aroma that features lots of caramel, candy, and molasses in the nose. Flavor is excessively sweet with lots of ripe raisin, molasses, dark & sugary bread. Nice to try, but a bit out of whack - lots of sweetness that goes nowhere.

Dec 24, 2008 12oz bottle from Parti-Pak Liquors (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a dark brown to black color with reddish highlights. Thin off-white head that settles quickly. Aroma is rich and malty with notes of candy sugar, molasses, sweet chocolate, maple syrup. Flavor is also rich and malty with candy sugar, molasses, maple syrup and dark chocolate overtones. Medium to full body with a pleasing sweet and syrupy finish.
