A reddish copper ale with a thin light moka head. In aroma, a light peated malt with light butterscotch. In mouth, a caramel malt, peaty and nice, light fruity esters, a bit ligth but good. On tap at Clarke’s Ale House, Syracuse, Oct. 25 2009.

Dec 11, 2009 Dark brown pour with ruby highlights and a small, off-white head. The aroma smells like gingerbread, molasses, toffee, apples, spice, and light mesquite smoke. The flavor is cherry wood smoke, baked apples, caramel, slight licorice, a little tobacco and just a hint of cocoa. The body is creamy, full, lightly carbonated and hides the big alcohol very well. An awesome cold weather warmer.

Dec 8, 2009 Lots of smooth flavors in this one and a nice soft textured body. Flavors of mostly caramel, sweet malts, fruit, form a recognizable scotch ale character. I know some people say this type of scotch ale doesn’t accurately represent the style, but I like it. I prefer it over most scotch ales and it is very similar to the CCB Big Sound.

Dec 6, 2009 Very enjoyable with some great caramel, malt and roasted nut flavors. Alcohol was noticeable, but in a very good way. Sweet and easy to enjoy. Very great mouthfeel and smooth.

Dec 5, 2009 dark brown/black with mild white head. some scotch like notes to the nose with a thick mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. flavor with mild hop contribution before a lot mid lovibond crystal malt before some smoked malt contribution. when colder the smoked aspect comes out and when warming the crystal predominates. a decent brew, the alcohol is well hidden, but not exemplary

Nov 29, 2009 Dark mahogany pour with a pillowy beige head. Caramel malt aroma with hints of cinnamon, some smoke and a touch of woody peat. Flavor is sweet caramel and toffee with hints of burnt sugar, smoke, wood char, peat, a little bit of leafiness. Finish is a little sticky with some sweet wood left over in the mouth. A fine scotch ale, very enjoyable.

Nov 29, 2009 Bottle from Hopscotch. Pours a ruddy brown with a red hue and a small beige head. Nose of rich, gooey chocolate and caramel fudge. Amazing likeness there. A touch smoky. Mouth is creamy, rich, full of that slightly smoky, somewhat bitter chocolate fudge and caramel. Much like eating a cake. Some hop bitterness brings up the back end. A tad watery. This is nice, and I’m pleasantly surprised. Thanks man!

Nov 25, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours clear light brown with a thin tan head. Caramel malt and peaty smoke aroma with some fruit and chocolate notes. Peaty and smoky malt flavor with caramel and hops in the middle, creamy chocolate and a hint of alcohol in the finish.
