Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 23, 2008 In short: A highly roasted blueberry stout. An interesting and almost successful attempt (almost).
How: Bottle 12oz, age unknown. From HogtownHarry, thanks a lot Harry.
The look: Black body topped by a tan ring of foam
In long: Nose is highly roasted, some black coffee and only a little hint of blueberries. Taste has the blueberries more upfront and adds molasses and chocolate notes to the black coffee and highly roasted flavours detectable from the nose. Body is full, carbonation is lively. The beer has an overall dry sensation. I was very much intrigued by this beer and I’m glad I got to try it. The result was not as good as I hopped nor was it as bad as I feared, so I was both relieved and saddened, like the time I peed myself in my favourite jeans. Alldaydrinker (557), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Oct 23, 2008 Pours a rich black color with a small tan head. Nose is rich of chocolate, blueberries, roasted malt, molasses, brown sugar. Initial taste is deeply roasted, dark chocolate, caramel, molasses. Mid Palate displays light blueberries, black coffee, continuing roasted malt. Finishing silky smooth with a great palate duration. Medium body. Overall very delicious,. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 2, 2008 Bottle number 3 shared with G-Money thanks homie. Poured black in color with with a red head. GMCC2181 (844), Bear, Delaware, USA Oct 2, 2008 Bottle from stfun, thanks josh! By far the best out of the five beers tonight. Light hint of blueberry in the aroma. Dark color, followed by a red head which I have never seen before in a beer. Taste was a nice touch of blueberries in a stout. But it still had the stout characteristics. Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Good smooth texture, which made it easy to drink. Overall a really good brew, thanks Josh for this one! SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle - thanks to pepsican for the trade; pours jet black with thin tan head; aromas of blueberry and chocolate; smells almost like blueberry pancakes soaked in maple syrup; rich with a slight tartness from the blueberries as it tastes like they used wild blueberries; chocolate and roasty in the finish; nice texture to it as well; wow, i thought this was just fantastic beerbill (1917), Laurel, New York, USA Oct 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with yem25. Pours black with a large dark brown head that faded to a ring at mid-glass and left a semi-transparent brown film on the glass with each sip. The aroma of blueberries is very strong, especially right after the pour, with roasted malt and just a bit of chocolate. The flavor is mostly lightly roasted malt with subtle blueberry towards the finish. The blueberry becomes more apparent in the aftertaste and lingers for a few seconds beyond the swallow. Fairly smooth at the finish. Full bodied. A very enjoyable beer. mcbackus (724), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Sep 20, 2008 bottle: pours dark black small espresso tan head. aroma is awesome fresh blueberry juice slight chocolate adn some roast but light. flavours are good chocolate with some blueberries, great roast, finishes smooth and delicious, another great dark beer form these guys.
