incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Feb 4, 2008 Smells like an old blueberry pastry. Taste is of fruit, some toffe and a little smoke thrown in. the stuff looks like dark daark blue ink. One of these was enough, but really quite drinkable. grimreeser (795), Minnesota, USA Feb 3, 2008 Pours a very dark brown with a small brown layer of foam. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, and blueberries. Flavor is a let down, it seems a little too bitter and leaves a weird roast/chocolate aftertaste. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Feb 2, 2008 12 oz bottle from tytoanderso; nose of chcolate cover blueberries with a minor coffee hint! Very black with brown fringes and a very small rusty, small-bubbled head; flavor is very molassey with blueberries and bitter chcolate; finish from the nicely thick body is a little hops! golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Feb 2, 2008 Draft at the Hop Devil Grill, thanks to MaxxDaddy. Black pour with a brown thin film on top. Aroma is twiggy blueberries, with light roasted chocolate malt underneath. The flavor is similar, dominated by blueberries. Smooth palate, and a little lactic roastiness after drinking more. CP (124), USA Feb 1, 2008 After smelling the aroma of this beer (smells of blueberry pancakes) I thought this might be the best beer ever, however the flavor doesn’t live up to the smell. The flavor is rather bland and acidic on the throat and the blueberries aren’t too discernible. weepster (2), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA does not count Jan 23, 2008 Thanks Duane. Dark tan head, pours black. Aroma is amazing blueberry, nice to smell a blueberry beer that’s not ’fake’ blueberry or that uses too little fruit. Taste is blueberry and chocolate malt, excellent all the way down the glass. Definitely one of the top three bluberry beers I’ve had. CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Jan 20, 2008 12oz Bottle. Awesome fresh blueberry aroma. All the seeds, stem, flesh and skin of wild blueberries coalesces with a real refined stout character. Light coffee, bright dusty dark cocoa, and lightly cooked blueberries. Pours deep black with a quickly rising rim of hot chocolate tan foam. Probably one of the darkest heads I’ve ever seen. Flavor is right on spot two. Man, the blueberries and the stout work hand in hand. A big part of this is that this is an awesome stout, even without the blueberries. And it’s not all in your face blueberries. It’s a subtle, earthy fruit. Just like wild. Great roasted character, subtle saltiness, and then a very mild blueberry skin approach. A glimmer of hops provides depth to the beer. Carbonation is on point. Fresh. A great stout, paired with the perfect amount of the right fruit. Excellent! gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Jan 19, 2008 Can’t see through this beer after pouring. Big wiff of blueberry but the blueberry is rather subdude in the taste. Medium body. Somewhat of a light fig type sweetness. Only bad thing about this beer is the label.
