lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA Apr 16, 2007 Aroma of fresh blueberries hit me as i cracked open the bottle... smelled like fresh blueberry syrup. Flavors of chocolate malt and blueberries, but was a bit too much like cough syrup. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Apr 16, 2007 Jet black pour with a light, quick to dissipate brown head. Very tight bubbles form the head and it is quick to be stirred back up with just a swish of the glass. Light fruit in the aroma and I actually believe blueberry. Semi-sweet and cream to the nose. The flavor is light blueberry fruit at the very beginning. Toasted/roasted grain come fast behind it with semi-sweet malt and perhaps some light chocolate or nougat. Semi-dry medium body. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Apr 14, 2007 12 oz. bottle via trade (can’t remember who, sorry) - Pours a dark brown color with a 3/4 finger thick tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is basicly Blueberries. Flavor is roasted malt with a touch of bluberry. Has a bitter, thin palate. Light to medium body. This beer could use a tad more in the mouthfeel and body departments. Still, a decent beer. Thanks to whomever sent this. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Apr 10, 2007 12 oz bottle. Thick, oily pour. Opaque black with a thick brown head. Attractive aroma of chocolate and distinct blueberry with a whiff of burnt stick. Slightly sweet and fruity on the tongue. Pretty unique pairing of roasty and chocolatey malt with just the right amount of blueberry flavor. Full bodied and delicious. Kind of like coffee and blueberry pie. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Apr 4, 2007 This stout actually displays some purple highlights as it pours into the glass. A thick, mocha head rises above the ebony body. Freshly mashed blueberries and sweet apple immediately rise from the glass. A deeper breath reveals a gentle layer of roasted malt and espresso beneath. The blueberry initiates a splash of tart lemon that matches a citrusy hoppiness in the start. The malt profile takes control from here, riding this out with lots of smoke, dark chocolate and chalky coffee. An interesting combo, but blueberries and roasted malt aren’t my favorite mix. jcr (1134), Jasper, Indiana, USA Apr 4, 2007 I like Bells Cherry Stout. And I like Atlantic Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale. I can appreciate this stout — the blueberries are there as is the roasty aroma and taste. But roasted, smoked, peaty blueberries? The combination didn’t work for me as well as it apparently does for most others. The aroma is big on blueberries. Behind it is smoke and peat. The pour is a black body below a creamy, large tan head. The flavor presents moderate sweetness and a slight bitterness. Dry finish. Medium body and a slightly sticky texture. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Apr 3, 2007 Aquired via trade with Styles. As soon as I popped the cap it was instant blueberry and malt aroma and just maybe a touch of smoke. Sort of smells like blueberry pancakes with syrup. Pours black with a faint tan head. Flavor for some reason is quite spicy. Also roasted malts, burnt blueberry. Sure is different. DirtyMartini (194), Los Angeles, Alabama, USA Apr 3, 2007 via trade with wheninhell - the only thing lacking in this fantastic brew is a nice thick head so it looks as good as it tastes. for such a low alcohol brew, its definitely not lacking for anything else. lots of body, lots of flavor. the aroma smells like breakfast in the morning...blueberry pancakes/muffins and coffee in the air. the flavor is very similar. blueberry up front with some roasted malt and chocolate in the finish. like i said earlier, like having your blueberry muffin with your coffee in the morning.
