gbdub (73), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Apr 10, 2009 Pours thick black with a lovely, thick, red-broen head. Strong blueberry aroma atop a coffee-chocolate roast malt base. Flavor is actually quite dry: chocolaty roast malt with a bit of a fruity tartness and a long, lingering smoky finish. The bluberries are definitely there, but as a more of a nuance than a strong flavor. This works remarkably well. Medium thick, creamy mouthfeel. A very successful fruity stout. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Apr 6, 2009 12 oz bottle via trade bonus (Scoobydank I believe). Pours almost black with a red toned brown head. Nose is of warm blueberry muffins with nice malt notes. Taste is nice blueberry, mild white pepper, and good roasted malt. At times the blueberry taste artificial but not the whole time. Mouth has a nice mild carbonation and a long dry finish. If you like blueberries this is a must try. ditmier (1023), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 3, 2009 2008 Bottle - Thanks BrewCzar! - Pours fairly thin but almost completely black with a small tan head...aroma is coffee and blueberries, with some roast notes near the end...flavour is pleasantly dry and chocolately, with a slightly medicinal blueberry nuance...fruit is way more prevalent in the nose, which I like...finish is charred and ashy, with a nice lingering bitterness...looking forward to the other stouts... angrypirate06 (678), Texas, USA Mar 31, 2009 12oz bottle shared with Bman1113vr. Dark pour with a 1 finger brown head. Aroma is blueberry, coffee, chocolate and little bit of toffee. Taste is smoky, nicotine, chocolate and very very faint blueberries. It was kinda watery for a stout. shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA Mar 31, 2009 Updated: May 7, 2009succesful blueberry stout. blueberry taste, smooth stout. 12 oz bottle thanks a bundle flatmatt (221), Northville, Michigan, USA Mar 31, 2009 Updated: Apr 3, 200912 oz bottle from a One, Too, Tres, Fore mixed pack from Merchant’s. Pours black with a substantial brown head. Pleasant sweet blueberry aroma acompanied by a roasty chocolate background. The flavor again combines blueberry with cocoa and adds a bit of smoke. I didn’t know quite what to expect from this member of the Dark Horse stout series since blueberries aren’t something I’ve ever really eaten, but this is a very nice marriage of flavors. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Mar 30, 2009 Bottle thanks to Daknole. Pours with a dark brown head. Thickish pour. Black body. Aroma of blueberry and buckwheat pancakes, florals and chocolate fudge. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, tobacco, soil, and a light, nearly herbal sweetness from the berries. Creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 27, 2009 Tap. Side by side with fore. Thanks sersdf. Chocolate and blueberry throughout. Tastes like one of those chocolate covered dried blueberries. Decent.
