coyotehunter (542), , Michigan, USA Mar 2, 2009 Smells like blueberry pie filling, with notes of chocolate and vanilla. Pours black with a HUGE head...Taste is less than I expected. Not very heavy on the blueberries like I hoped. Slight hints of chocolate and oatmeal with the lightest bit of vanilla in there. Very smooth and creamy on the palate. As far as dry stouts go, its one of the better Ive had. KYackley (32), , Minnesota, USA Feb 25, 2009 The descriptions says it all...chocolate, malt and blueberries. The blueberries are about perfect, not to strong, not too weak, just about right! Very impressed with this brew, I could get used to this. FunkyBrewster (436), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 24, 2009 Thanks 17thfloor! Pours jet black with a nice creamy light brown head. Aroma is very robust with chocolate malt and a big coffee and bitter chocolate presence. Beneath is a very biting blueberry tart note that adds a whole new level to the aroma. Flavor starts with a nice soft blueberry sweetness rounded with a nice malty body. Mmmmm liquid sweet blueberry muffin. Through the swallow the blueberry flavor loses ground to a bitter or bakers chocolate and ever so slight hop presence. Regains a bit of blueberry tartness in the swallow and lingers along with the dark malt, much like a blueberry dark chocolate. Medium to full body and mild carbonation. Deliciously melds the flavors to a well rounded but not overly aggressive beer. FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Feb 24, 2009 Had it on tap. This is a nice dark stout, but it has *sparkle* to it somehow which I did not expect. It has the slightly floral taste of blueberry, but not in an obnoxious way and it is very chocolaty. I truly enjoyed this one. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 23, 2009 Draft at Jerry’s. Black with big, creamy brown head / Big, roast nose / Medium to full body, chewy, with great balance and finish / Flavors of roast coffee, unsweetened chocolate, and tobacco, with subtle blueberry notes / Near perfect, just a textbook example of a dry stout with the deft touch of blueberries adding a little extra interest. dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Feb 22, 2009 Tap at EBF. I didnt really care for this one. The sweetness from the blue berries didnt blend well with the roastiness of the stout. The two distinct flavors might be good on their own but together they just dont work. kegbear (265), Orange, California, USA Feb 22, 2009 Bottle thanks to MrChopin. Dark pour with tan head. Aroma of berries and roasted malt. Tastes of berries, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Blueberries not overdone. Very nice.
