Pretty beer. Pitch black with a dark tan head that doesn’t fade immediately, but doesn’t last. The bluebeery aroma is nice and is the first thing you notice. Under that is a bit of hop and chocolate. The malts take dominance in the flavor with chocolate laying down the foundation of the flavor with toast and a little char filling in the cracks. The blueberry is there in the flavor, but not so strongly.

12 oz. bottle. Want list bonus from BrianK. Thanks Brian! Dark brown, slightly thick pour with no real head. Big roasted chocolate malt aroma that is cut nicely by assertive blueberries. Taste is a slightly smokey roasted malt with a blueberry finish that starts dry and finishes sweet and fruity. Very nice.

Aroma: Dark malt aroma. Big with coffee and lingering blueberry aroma also.
Appearance: Dark black in color, Clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Strong dark malt flavor with a sprinkling of blueberry flavoring.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a pitch black color stout with a small deep brown color head. Aroma of strong blueberry is well mix with some medium roasted malt notes. Taste is a mix between fresh and sweet blueberry and some roasted malt with a light bitter finish. I am not usually fond of fruit in stout but I thought this mix worked very well and the balance between fruit, sweetness and bitterness from the malt was well achieved. Body was quite full with some light carbonation.

Pours an absolutely opaque, pitch black body. A spongy, chocolate brown head settles slowly to a thin film, leaving rings of skinny lacing behind at first, followed by sudsy lacing that mostly rejoins the body. The aroma shows roasted coffee, cream, dark cocoa, and blueberry pancakes that stuck to the griddle for about one minute too long. A sweet bready, pancake batter component makes this one the perfect breakfast beer. The blueberry component is fresh, not artificial like most fruit beers are. The flavor shows scorched blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes. A light smokiness shines though, with a caramel infused syrup drizzle. I cannot emphasize enough how great a breakfast beer this would make. The medium-full mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Finishes roasty, with a lingering blueberry and chocolate finish. Overall, this is a very satisfying beer. It’s not overly sweet and not at all artificial tasting. This is one of the best fruit beer interpretations I have ever sampled. I want more!

12oz bottle. i really hate this label. pours dark with almost no head. nose is extremely overpowering wth blueberries and undertones of roasted malts. too bad the smell of blueberries doesn’t do it for me. flavor has tons of blueberries with roasted coffee and chocolate. the flavor is pretty intense and you have to like blueberries in order to get into this. mouthfeel is too thin for the style. i can appreciate the attempt, but it’s just not for me.

2/26/2007: Dark Horse Tres Blueberry Stout is black in color, opaque, and has a really subtle veil that lasts for about a second after the pour. This beer has an awesome aroma. It smells just like hot blueberry pie with a touch of chocolate sauce on it! The blueberry is much more subdued in the flavor but is definitely there and it tastes real like a fresh blueberry. The blueberry floralness mingles nicely with the dry roasted maltiness and chocolate flavors that follow. The finish has a wonderful milk chocolate flavor with traces of blueberry. The body of this beer is medium to medium-full and is just right for the style and overall impression. This sucker is delicious a very impressive fruit-flavored stout! I am very pleased!

12 fl. oz. bottles from Silphium (trade in December 2006) and Tish. Thank you Brad and Tisha! Rating #271 for this beer...

Nice blueberry nose, the flavor of blueberry is very muted in this dry stout. Thx to whomever brought it to noogfest 08
