Pours dark, oily black with a medium sized nice and dark brown head. Smell definitely has some blueberry as well as some rich chocolately, slightly sweet, creamy roastiness.
Taste is dark roasty and blueberries as advertised. Very drinkable, and chocolately. Much like dark chocolate covered dried blueberries. Really nice. Slightly sweet, but not overly so. This is a fantastic stout and my favorite Dark Horse beer so far. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2007 A beer that had been in the cellar for almost a year. Almost drank it alone a number of times. Finally cracked it open at Beer_Hawks cellar clearing tasting. A combination of blueberries, smoke, and coffee on the nose. A dark brown almost black pour with a lite tan head and lace. A flavor that is weighted heavy on the front by the blueberries then fades to a rich coffee with both flavors wrapped in a full smoky flavor. A bit foamy but not fizzy. Palate is full bodied past the carbonation? A very complex beer overall. With flavors from everywhere. Nice. AmEricanbrew (2003), Almost, Texas, USA

Wow, incredible aroma of fresh sweet, plump blueberries with roasted malts. Silky smooth and medium bodied. Great flavor is super fresh juicy sweet blueberry with chocolatety blackened malts. The berry flavor here is perfect; not too sweet nor mild. This is like dipping fresh blueberries in chocolate sauce, awesome brew ! sebletitje (2000), Tampa, Florida, USA

pours deep black, thin and quickly disappearing mocha head.
Aroma is malty, light roast, some berries that had a nice almost sweet vanilla aroma.
Taste, coffee, roasted malts, light blueberry palate that was optimal and not overly bitter with some added chocolate.
Interesting approach and a lot better than my Buffalo Bill Blueberry Stout experience. beerbill (1982), Laurel, New York, USA

Pours black with a large dark brown head that faded to a ring at mid-glass and left a semi-transparent brown film on the glass with each sip. The aroma of blueberries is very strong, especially right after the pour, with roasted malt and just a bit of chocolate. The flavor is mostly lightly roasted malt with subtle blueberry towards the finish. The blueberry becomes more apparent in the aftertaste and lingers for a few seconds beyond the swallow. Fairly smooth at the finish. Full bodied. A very enjoyable beer. mar (1972), Dallas, Texas, USA

Even palate good mouthfeel a little thinner than I’d like in a stout. Flavor is a bit dry lactose coccoa and some blueberries in it as well.A good flavor but nothing amazing. Still probably the best fruit stout I’ve ever had.
