Tap at EBF. I didnt really care for this one. The sweetness from the blue berries didnt blend well with the roastiness of the stout. The two distinct flavors might be good on their own but together they just dont work.

Pours black with a tiny ring of carbonation. Smells amazing, like a confection made of blueberries and dark chocolate. The flavor is less compelling. Lightly sweet yet quite rich malt and blueberry blend with a drier finish. Worth a try, at least.

Black, pitch black - great looking light brown head - what a stout should look like. Light blueberry at the front of the nose, roasty with hints of coffee. Fruity and fresh smelling. The body is nicely fruity with delectable coffee notes. Very little blueberry in this thing, roasty with a light palate. A very nice base stout - doesn't really need the blueberry, it's barely detectable anyway. Not up to the standard set by other fruit stouts like Bell's Cherry Stout, but a good stout nonetheless.

12 oz bottle. Impenetrable purple brown with a dying crema head. Blueberries rise up even as i pour. Closer, more blueberries with a trace of pink grapefruit. Expecting a fruit beer i was pleasantly surprised to find a rugged stout. Begins a bit fizzy. Dark chocolate and coffee melt away leaving grape Nehi and grapefruit zest. Smooth, medium body. Dry finish with light berry. Fruit flavor is there but doesn’t detract. I continue to be impressed with Dark Horse.

Draft at MSBF. Poured a nice deep black color with a small brown head. Nose is light and fruity with blueberries present as well as chocolate. Taste is very sweet and light in the mouth with blueberries poking through but not overwhelming. CHocolate and sweet malts come through in the end.

Bottle at the RBSG09 grand tasting. Black with a tan head. Awesome blueberry aroma. The flavor is a dry mix of dark chocolate and blueberries. Medium bodied and smooth. I like how they packed a ton of fruit flavor that perfectly compliments the chocolate without the beer being sweet and sticky. By flavor impact, I guessed this was almost twice the strength.

Opaque black with a thin, crema-colored head. Pouring yields the aroma of fresh blueberries, for sure. Second inspectoin yields more blueberries, caramel, nicely roasted malt, light coffee, molasses, cocoa and a hint of woody spice. The body is big and smooth; it’s been a while since I’ve had a stout and this feels good going down. The first sip shows loads of roasted malt character. Nice roasted/burnt bitterness to balance the sweet malt and the subtle blueberry fruit. The cocoa, malt, coffee and caramel are really nice and compliment the fruit well. I’ve been leary of this for some time, wondering what blueberry and stout tasted like togther, but this was really nice. The fruit is subtle, but it adds depth and a unique character to maek something special.
