Sweet candied aroma with roast and berry notes - reminds me of Pop Tart. Different and very nice though somewhat cloying. Roasted flavor with lots of coffee and some candied berry notes. Quite dry. Different and weird but still good!
Thanks a lot Steve (wohlfs) for the trade! 5000 (2634), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2006 Updated: Mar 10, 2006Bottle: Black, very black, moderate dark brown head, foamy, with spotty lacing. Aroma of wild blueberries, pepper, and even a bit of soap. Dry flavor of wild and immature blueberries, as well as the soap noticed on the nose albeit it is a bit more subtle here. Roasted malts are there, but they are overshadowed by the soapiness at the finish. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Finishes very soapy, with a dry immature blueberry tinge. I soooo wanted to like this one, but the blueberry was too peppery and soapy. Thanks jtw for the bottles!

Super blueberry chocolate malt aroma has a hint of raisin. Dark black brown body with a quick foamy red head. Dry malty blueberry flavour has some chocolate smoky alcohol notes. Full body has a dry finish. Very nice, plus eating chocolate actually brings out the blueberry fruit more. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 5, 2008 On tap at Hop Devil Grill, NYC. Great roasty blueberry aroma - really works well! Black, big thick tan head, looks great. Taste is just ok - too much blueberry, roast is overwhelmed with fruity bitterness. Otherwise, solid stout that just gets the balance a little wrong. Overall good, could be great. ChainGangGuy (2613), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Appearance: Pours a plain, unassuming black body with a small tan head.
Smell: Dark roasted malts with a pleasant, clear-cut blueberry scent. Though crammed into one sentence, I assure you it is a really lovely aroma.
Taste: Blueberry fruitiness right out of the game. Some sweet dark malts struggle to keep up. Taste of sugar-crusted chocolate muffin tops. More blueberries for the finish.
Mouthfeel: A bit above medium-bodied. Mild carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s actually pretty nice. The flavors contrast and complement each other quite well. Pailhead (2609), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2004 Bottle: Smells like a chocolate blueberry muffin, if such a thing exists. Pours motor oil black with a brown head that fades quickly. Initial flavor of chocolate and blueberry is quickly overtaken by a bitter black coffee finish. Overtaken too quickly. Coffee comes too quick and the chocolate blueberry taste virtually gone. Barely manages to linger on. Very interesting, just wish that chocolate blueberry flavor didn’t get dominated so quickly. Not what I’ve come to know a fruit beer to be. 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2005 Bottle in trade from Styles. The beer pours to a dark black color with a thin dark brown head. The aroma is blueberries and sweet milk chocolate truffles sprinkled in cocoa powder. Kinda reminds me of the sweet and delicious blueberry syrup we purchased in Michigan on a trip when I was a kid. The flavor is charcoally like a dry Brooklyn BCS mixed with blueberry syrup. 2 things I like very much. The palate is dry and smooth and charcoally. This is a pretty interesting brew! Black with small tan creamy head. Blueberry’s witha mils sweet malt at first. Fruityness subsided a bit then the creamy rich chocolate flavor in the middle. Got a malty sweet shot of blueberry on the last gulp. Dry frutiy chocolate left on palate. Being a Badgers fan had to pick one from the fridge to toast the Gators thumping of those Buckeye’s.
