Very carbonated, had a hard time pouring the beer without creating a volcano of head. The blueberry gives a very strong aroma. It seems that the blueberry is more powerful in the scent than the taste. Good roasty flavor that really doesn"t give a lot of blueberry until the end. I think a slightly sweeter stout would do very well with the blueberry flavor as well. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Pours a very dark dirty motor oil pour... pretty dark brown head too, but more bubbly than creamy. Eventually fades to a nice creamy ring. Nose has candied blueberry + roasty dark chocolate. Tart blueberry and dry roasty malt. Piney blueberry skins, dark bitter 99% chocolate. Sweet glazed doughnuts. Very good and enjoyable. rudolf (1784), Buffalo, New York, USA

Nose is wonderfully malty - I’m reminded of expedition. Rich caramel, molasses, some hop presence,a bit of blueberry is there but remains in the back. Flavor is that wonderful malt, toffe, molasses, cocoa, almost burnt sugar, hops. Fruit is there but not specifically blueberry, more an undefined fruitiness. Stunning stuff, especially for 4.5%. I’d drink this daily if I could. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2006 Pours a deep black with large compact uniform brown head. The aroma is full of blueberries, coffed, and chocolate. The blueberry seems quite fresh. Not like a beer aroma I’ve had before. Nice coffee and roasted malts with a blueberry muffin flavor and a coco character that lends depth and a bit of chocolate bitterness. Feel is a bit chalky and of nice depth for a stout. Nice unique beer. I don’t know of another like it. Sweet, roasted and fruity. Blueberry is probably my favorite fruit and I think Dark Horse did a great job of getting past the femine stigma associated with fruit beers. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Same as the other DH stouts I’ve opened. The aroma, well it changes everything. REAL blueberries. Its a really great aroma, the berries work with the beer. Drinking this is interesting. The blueberries act with the dark malts to dry things out. But not too dry. the flavors are all subtle, the blueberry, the chocolate and roasted malts all combine to make this beer what it is. Very interesting stuff. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

Black , thick, with a heavy dark brown head. As stated, nose is blueberry. Surprise, there is much more blueberry in the nose than the taste. There is a lot of roasted coffee here, with fruit hints, like a black coffee with after taste of pie. Wonderful brew. Thank you, so much! NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2006 Mmmm aroma is a crusty baked blueberry pie served right next to a steaming cup of quality roasted coffee. Deep black color in the body with a very dark brown pinky thin, creamy head. Fore is roasty with chooclate and coffee notes..slightly bitter then the bluberries kick in toward the middle. Lots of bitter dark chocolate, cocoa and coffee flavors collide with the blueberry notes in the finish. This is a damn tasty beer and it is not lost in the blueberry notes...it’s still very much a stout first. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

Huge blueberry up front, very roasty/burnt grain, faint bitter bakers cocoa. Flavor very much on par with aroma. Blueberry up front, bitter cocoa and dark roasted grain. Very dry, like flaked oats dry, except I see no mention of oats. Some coffee shows up in aftertaste. Nice medium body/mouthfeel. Well done.
