Dark Horse Tres Blueberry Stout

made a trip across the river to indiana and picked up this one... aroma is almost overwhelming w/ blueberries. it’s beautiful. pours so dark and thick i would guess this was an imperial. i was surprised at the abv based on it’s appearance ... but this is incredibly light and refreshing. i never thought i’d say this... but this is one stout i’d sit out on the porch and drink during the summer.

12 oz bottle. Part of me wants to love this beer (stout) and part of me wants to hate it (fruit), so I was a little torn trying this. Pours a dark mahogany with a dark tan head with nice lacing. The aroma initially is blueberries, but then some malt comes through as this breathes a little. The taste is malt heaven, with just a trace of blueberry, with a coffee finish. Damn this is better than I expected.

12 oz bottle 2005 edtion. Dark Brown/ Black pours with a nice brown head that sticks around. Aroma was filled with blueberries with roast malt. Flavor almost as same as the aroma.

draft at the brewpub - Pours black with a thin, fading, tan head. The aroma has roasted malts and lots of blueberries. Roasted malt and blueberries carry the flavor with some mild chocolate notes. Full bodied, lightly carbonated, and smoothing going down, this sweet stout is a quality brew.

Thanks to Schroppy for this one. Black pour with a small light brown head. Aroma: alot of blueberry, chocolate, and roast. Taste is quite a bit of blueberry, but balanced nicely by dry chocolate, roast and a light to medium caramel malt backbone. Nice, in that the blueberry is definitely assertive but it is not over the top. Didn’t taste too artificial either. Finishes with lingering blueberry and lightly bitter roast, with a light hop bitterness. Very nice. Thanks Mike!

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt, coffee, prunes and a hint of blueberry. Taste is semi sweet with chocolate, blueberry, light roasted malt. Well balanced with a very dry, tart finish.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, blueberry, and molasses. Average sized brown head that mostly diminished but left no lace. Black hue. Flavor is roasted malt, dark chocolate, blueberry, coffee, and wood. Nice finish. Palate is smooth and oily soft. Med/full bodied. A very nice dry stout especially if you like that roasted/burnt malt flavor.
