Nose is full of anise and fennel-not unlike Chartreuse really. Slight blueberry. Not at all sweet. Great mouthfeel, perfect thickness and carbonation. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 9, 2009 I was floored to see this was less than 5%. Growler supplied by Kevin. Poured a dark brown almost black. Low carbonation but still a small tan head. Nose is huge blueberries and a fair amount of smoke. Flavor is quite roasty with lovely smokiness and some subtle chocolate and toasted malt complexity. Huge thick body I estimated this beer was 6.5% at least. What an achievement. Amazing beer. nbutler11 (773), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 3, 2008 Poured a rich black from the tap with a trim dark tan head. Blueberries dominate both the aroma and flavor of this beer, which sounds bad, but it’s really awesome. Tasty notes of cocoa are also present. Of all the Dark Horse stouts that I’ve tried, this one is the most distinct and successful. Well done. Iceman82 (27), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Had this by the bottle at Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen. This beer has rockstar status!! Quite possibly one of the best beers I’ve ever smelled. Pours a dark, syrupy black color with no head. The most amazing blueberry aromas rise from this glass. I feel like I’m surrrounded by a crop of sweet blueberries in the summer. Aromas of blueberry, chocolate, maybe a little coffee. Tastes entirely different than expected. Not sweet...just an amazing stout with this fresh blueberry flavor. Tastes of dark, bitter chocolate and blueberry. Reminds me of a blueberry muffin!!! Superstar (45), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 11, 2003 Based on the previous ratings it looks like psychprof has been sending this one around the country. I’m glad he let me in on the fun. The smell of freshly baked muffins permeated the room upon opening the bottle. While the beer certainly had a nice blueberry flavor, I was glad that it didn’t dominate the beer. It had a nice roasty, rich flavor with the blueberry striking at the finish. Very enjoyable. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 24, 2005 Draft at MSBF. Poured a nice deep black color with a small brown head. Nose is light and fruity with blueberries present as well as chocolate. Taste is very sweet and light in the mouth with blueberries poking through but not overwhelming. CHocolate and sweet malts come through in the end. Snojerk321 (2034), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 9, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours black with a small chocolate head. Awesome aromas of chocolate, blueberry, and toffee. The light blueberry flavor was just right, balanced by a heavy malt presence and a tiny bit of hops. stoutlvr (52), Lansing, Michigan, USA

That person is right! I had this at the brewery and it is awesome out of the tap. Blurberry flavor is definitely present with hints of chocolate and smoky bitterness. Great stout!
