SilkTork (3882), Rochester, Kent, England Oct 3, 2003 Updated: Nov 7, 2004 Chappel Beer Fest, Pump. Another beer I’ve been hunting for some time. This was devised and first brewed at Pitfield where it became famous, especially among Grateful Dead fans who would always buy up all stocks when the band played in London. When the Evening Star pub in Brighton wanted to become a brewpub they enlisted the help and support of the Pitfield head brewer Rob Jones who then joined them bringing his own recipes with him. It was only natural that they named the new brewery after this awesome ale. The beer is heavenly dark with a mixed bubble top. Wonderful. Notes of sweet licorice in aroma. Licorice again in flavour. Body is medium, perfect condition, soft and gentle. Long lingering dry licorice finish. A superb beer. Awesomely dark and tangy. World class. [4.4]
Frog & Toad Bonfire Fest. Known, at the moment, as Original (stupid idea, which I hope they will change soon) this is a deeply drinkable and totally spanking ale. I simply love this beer. [4.9]
