duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Apr 16, 2008 Cask@Pigs Ear Fest. Good stuff as usual from these guys. Shows some nice roasted malt characters and smoky notes. Mouth feel is soft, yet nicely assertive as well, with a fairly lengthy, warming finish. Nice stuff.
Mes_and_Sim (4476), Highgate, Greater London, England Dec 18, 2007 A Mes rate: Gravicask at Pigs Ear. Very dark red / amber with a thin white head and lots of lace. Lovely Dark Star porter nose with some excellent smoky cheese. To be honest it’s pretty much a Rauch. This is backed up with the prickly smoke in the flavour. Strong malt, pronounced bitterness and a very moreish peppery smoke finish. Dark Star specials are generally pretty good and this is no exception. Aarleks (402), Sydney, Australia Dec 11, 2007 Gravity at the Pig’s Ear Festival, London: Dark brown with some red-orange highlights. Nice woody, salty smoke aroma. Slightly woody flavour with some pleasant grain notes, some salty bacon and toast. Quite nice. KnutAlbert (2322), Oslo, Norway Dec 10, 2007 Pig’s Ear Festival 2007.
Nice. Really nice. Fine porter base, grainy, some sweetness, and an aftertaste of forest fire. The name says it all!
