Aroma of dark caramely sweet malt with a light noble hoppy presence. Body starts fairly full and dark malty sweet with a touch of earthiness and noble bittering hops toward a smooth caramely finish. A nice dunkel. Skyview (4111), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Visited Das Bierhaus for their official Grand Opening on June 30. This dunkel pours a semi-clear brown amber brew with an average off-white head that dissolves to a fine film with good lacing in glass. Aroma of sweet caramel, buckwheat honey, Hawaiian sweet bread and a touch of seasoned pepper. Taste is smooth, very lightly carbonated, medium to full body with a touch of flowery hops. Finish is smooth, creamy with a sweet hazelnut aftertaste with just barely and hop bitterness. Quite semi-sweet for a dark beer. Overall, it’s a fantastic well-balanced German style dark beer in America. JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Dark brown. Roasted aroma, and medium bodied rich, malt flavor with roasted grain. A little sweet. I have never tasted a dunkel with so much roasted character. Very good. BDR (2170), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 3, 2009 Sampled on draught: Poured a sort of murky brown. I love how the beers are unfilitered leaving tons of crap floating around. Aroma was again sort of sour, but a pleasent sour reminiscent to tart cherry. Taste was a bit tart with soft spice mid way through the palate. Finishes long and satisfying. tennisjoel (952), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA

Aroma: nutmeg, roasted nut, and maple syrup. Very smooth palate and easy drinking. A rich malty beer and a good one. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA
