Pours a clear gold colour with a thin bubbly head. Grainy malt aroma. Slightly sweet malt taste but no great "world renown european hops" flavour jumps out at me. Lingering oiliness on the tongue.

Slightly fuller lager than usual. Mainly malt oriented .Light aftertaste. Medium bodied beer.

Slightly pale golden hue with a off white head. Very small scent of malt, mostly hops. The taste starts off surprizingly smooth with a somewhat balanced flavour of malt and hops but ends quick to a watery, cleaning solution, generic, commercial beer. Definately not the worst beer I have ever tasted. Sure as hell not the best.

Bright golden coloured brew with good carbonation. Head is thick to start but dissipates pretty quickly. Aroma is overpowered by alcohol content. Yes, 5.9% isn't that strong, but it's enough to kill this bouquet. Pretty hard to make out the reported Bavarian Hersbrucker hops in the flavour as well. Doppelgold is not one of Dave's better beers. (Is it that tough for a North American brewery to come up with a decent German lager or pils??) Check out Dave's Honey Brown instead... much, much better. (341ml bottle)

A nice, tight, off-white head sits atop a dark golden beverage. The grainy nose displays a sinus-clearing show of alcohol, with hints of malt and lemon straining out of the glass. Texture seems a little flat and thin on the tongue, while the flavour profile is thick with alcohol and not much else. Considering Doppelgold is only 5.9% alc./vol. – not overwhelmingly high when you think about it – there is a dizzying amount of sweet, heavy alcohol dominating the entire experience. Built for indiscriminate guzzlers looking for quick, cheap buzz.

My favourite of the Dave beer family but that is like saying the best of the Lada automobiles. It really doesn’t quite cut it; who is this Dave that is taking my money? They should have a reimbursement policy for unsatisfied customers. They can call this Doppel-whatever but all it is is your standard boring beer. Fine to drink if you run out of something else at a party...
