Huge yellow head, fast receding with some lace over foxy-brown beer with a slight mossy sheen. Greenery and arachide (fatty acids), even manure, as well as sweet maltsyrup. Neutral taste mainly, with a faint sweet, and even fainter bitter component. Dry, woodpulp and cardboard flavour, and again quite some coloured malts. Well-bodied, very slick, near pappy MF. The above might sound harsher than intended. Still, I’m once more convinced that the products of "Sjefke" ought to be stored and forgotten for several years, before they can be enjoyed fully upon rediscovery.

Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Deep ambery brown colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is quite strong on leather, spices, malts, earth and some mild fudgelike notes in the background. Flavour is coffee, dark dry fruits, some wood, caramel and also a bit like sugarsweetened oakbarrel notes. Quite ashy aftertaste, after the fruits and wooden & sweet notes leave. Rather interesting brew.

Rich brown, brief head. Spicy and cocoa powder aroma. Sharp sour berry hints too. Pleasant carbonation. Dark berry and rich chocolate retronasals. Roasty burntness and bitingly hoppy too. Slightly sour feel. Sharp and refreshing, not sweet and sticky at all, unlike some dubbels.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Warm, orangey brown with a small, beige head. Unclean aroma of burned caramel. Medium body with sweetish, roasted malt and burned caramel. Fruit accents. Very discreet bitterness. 290308

The Fonefan/Brugmansia Cnudde tasting. Courtesy of Fonefan/Brugmansia. Dark mahogany and the aroma has notes of roasted malt, candy sugar and hints of cocoa. The flavour has sweetness, notes of roasted malt, light cocoa and the finish has hints of citrus. The overall impression is rather light, but still very charming, uncomplicated and pleasant.
