Aroma of cheesy funk and tart oak with a nice subtle backing of sweet pale malt. Starts lightly sweet and smooth with a nice complex balance of tartness and acidity with some funky cheesy flavors and finely dissolved carbonation before a dry, crisp finish. A nice gueuze. couchand (182), Iowa City, Iowa, USA

Sweet and sour aroma.
Spicy sour, but not nearly sour enough. FatPhil (3477), Espoo, Finland

A few sharp sour peaks in the aroma, gives you some indication it’ll be sour. The taste, however is far sharper than you’d guess. A tingle on the tongue, and a shiver right down the spine. Lots of woody esters. Pleasant, but short finish. DrnkMcDermott (1851), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2008 From the very tail end of the pre-DLD party at Flossmoor, this bottle is conjured up. So my notes are pretty scratchy at this point. To know this mutha is to know what they mean by "barnyard" beer smell. Funk in the funkiest places, old manure drying in straw on the stable floor… and that’s to describe why I like it! Yet a nice dubbel blonde color. Tartness all over the tongue, but yet it’s kind of playful, helped by fizzy carbonation. A fine example of what a well-placed brett and a bit of judicious geuze blending can do. Cork comes out without even a puff; the beer pours a gently cloudy gold, flat and with essentially no head. Robust musty, funky, latrine-and-barnyard aroma. I like the previous rater’s description of swamp mud. Tidal swamp mud! (Hence the rotting crab flesh and mangrove roots). Some yellow apple, a little bit of vinegar when this is cold; funk taking over as it warms. Yeah, all that, and it’s magnificently so.Leomo
Nice gently sour flavor, nothing strong or abrupt, the restrained acidity allowing the more complex and interesting components of the flavor (basically, those that drive the aroma) to come through in force. Lemon juice, a light chardonnay butteriness, sourdough. Light woodness dryness on the close, all in balance, quite refined. I could use a bit more carbonation in the mouthfeel - this is totally flat - but that’s a relatively minor complaint given how well this beer works for me. Very, very nice!

Beautiful evocative aroma—swamp mud drying on wellies, the smell of tires in the sun. Under that, wool, lemons, Sweet Tarts®. Bright, lively, really nice! The tartness is soft and abundantly refreshing, with a lemon and mineral quality. Bhops (334), Dallas, Texas, USA
