Commercial Description:
Unlike many other unblended oude lambik, there exists both draft and bottled versions of De Cam Oude Lambiek.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "De Cam Oude Lambiek" and anything less than 6 months-old under "De Cam Jonge Lambiek".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik". If in doubt, message JorisPPattyn.

Pours misty golden. Almost no head. Sourish, yeasty nose. Flavour from pear and apples. Lots of yeast in finish.

Hazy golden, gentle white ring. Deep slightly citrusy nose, lactic and well ponctuated with yeasty horseblanket. Good lemon juice acidity, all in all well blended and smooth, fairly light. truly appealing and diplomatic, close to a 9 for the nose. It doesn’t quite hold up in flavor where it is juicy, horsey and astringent. There is this herbal bite that feels almost like a tame jalapeno, which would be paired with a straight hay juice shot. Flavors finish very quick and are far more chaotic than in the nose. Correct mouthfeel on the other hand, a bit light, but fully carbonated if the bubbles don’t last very long.

Sampled from bottle at RBSG 2005 post-Cider Tour Sunday Imperial Stouts are tiggmtl’s Favorite Syle No Lie tasting. Dark dirty/oily gold with visible head and light carbonation...sourdough yeast, sharp lemons and huge brett in the nose, massive and overpowering...body soft, sour, quite dry, musty and a bit thin, with a rather watery finish...feels a bit old though its only a 2001 bottled in 2003. Still very glad to be able to try it, thanks so much cquiroga!

2001 Bottle sampled @ RBSG 05’ (Montréal) Post-Cidery Impromptu Hotel Room Tasting
Light hazy blonde, nice head, light lacing. Nose of bright tart barnyard, swimming with tartness fruit and some cherry. If I was Augustus Gloop and it was a river of tart cherries, I’d be knowing his fate. The flavor is not as intense, dry and musky like a damp cellar. Finishes fizzy and light.

Pears and lemons wrapped in leather on the barnyard floor. Hazy orange-gold with low white head that diminishes to ring and swirling cover. Short pear flavour is strongly acidic, tart and fairly bitter but offers little in the way of body. Low carbonation leaves this one feeling sadly lifeless. Bottle (2001 marked 2001) sampled at the post RBSG’05 hotel tasting. Many thanks to cquiroga for sharing!

07.10.05 Bottle, RBSG. Brewed Feb 01, Bottled 2003. Soft, sour, much hay, wet morning farm. Fantastic balance on nose, but flavor in not keeping up. Palate is flat, astringent feel across teeth. Not as old or sour as expected, but very nice. Color is pretty, light straw, melted honey.

(bottle from Belgian Belly, Manchester). Apparently this is Lindemans lambic matured in the wooden casks from Prazdroj in Plzen. Fairly flat beer with a nice prickle. Lots of lemons and citrus aromas and taste with some mandarin oranges too. Full bodied malty and grainy flavour, lots of sourness and bitterness with noticeable hops in the horseblankety sour and citrus finish. A lovely drink.
