Commercial Description:
Unlike many other unblended oude lambik, there exists both draft and bottled versions of De Cam Oude Lambiek.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "De Cam Oude Lambiek" and anything less than 6 months-old under "De Cam Jonge Lambiek".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik". If in doubt, message JorisPPattyn.

Bottle, 75 cl. Bought @ Bab festival. Cloudy orange color, very thin head. Aroma = fantastic tart gueuze, wood and some fruit. Medum body. Taste sour and tart with some wood. Very good lambic !

Bottle, 2000 vintage. Copper-golden, rather clear liquid with almost no head. Aroma is strong, with notes of fermented apples, wood and stables with a distinct acidity. Taste is acidic and musty but still round, a bit buttery and with notes of apples and yeast. Dry finish with some bitterness. Fantastic.

Tasted at Bill’s Sour tasting. (from WeeHeavy’s notes: 750 Dated 10.2005 so it was brewed in 2000, bottled in 05, from Brad, 5 yrs old) Really delicious. Low sourness. Low funkiness. Super easy to drink.

My 700th rating. 375ml Bottle conditioned @ the Saturday session, St Albans Beer Festival 2004. 2000 bottling.. Beer of the festival. Low carbonation. A fine lambic, softer than you would expect a Gueuze to be but perhaps sharper/dryer than Girardin draught lambic, for instance. The beer is sour and fairly dry, with lots of lemon/citrus.

Bottled 2002: Yellow/orange coloured. White head. Earthy with an intense sourness. Fresh acidic flavour. The sourness is perfectly balanced by a slightly sweetness. This is good stuff. Is fresh and dry in the aftertaste with some fruity sourness. Thanks Jens for sharing.

Bottled februari 2001, sampled may 2004. Cloudy orange coloured, little head. Fantastic tart gueuze aroma, wood and some fruit. Smooth flavour, obviously sour and tart with some wood. Initially watery finish, which later on gets more complex. Very good lambic, too bad it’s not that easily available.

Bottled 2000, so 6 year old. Aroma is still sweetish - amazing - with barnyard and leather. Light hazy, dark yellow color, small off-white head, no lace. What a 3-dimensional flavors! Unbelievable! Sour on the outside and sweet in the inside with a long lasting salty finish. Barnyard, hints of citrus, light bitterness and in the very very end some extra bitterness. Very smooth. Not the complexity of a Girardin Black Label but still wonderful. And I think very accessable, even to people not familiar with beers like this.
