Bottle at Erasmus. Pours a clear brilliant copper. Aromas of apple and tobacco. Medium body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is cognac, roasted malt and green apple. Finishes dry and oaky. Eventually there are raisin notes. It’s aging well.

Bottle @ Erasmus. Pours orange with light white head. Aroma is very sweet and oxidized, plenty of sherry qualities in there. Taste is somewhat spicy and sweet with some oxidation present. Despite all this, it drinks pretty easily. Moderate length finish with more spices and caramel sweetness. Almost certainly over the hill, but worth it to try.

Bottle with tom at Erasmus. Pours clear amber colour with no carbonation. Aroma - vintage port with some sherry cask and sweet toffee. Smooth and lingering on the tongue. Big toffee apple character, wood alcohol dark fruits and candi sugar and spicey cloves. Sightly overoxidized - aroma better than flavour but worth the trip!

Bottle at Erasmus, 11yr old. Alround rating: The beer has nearly died, theres nearly no carbonation. Big sherryness, like a medium sweet aged sherry. Theres still hints of hop bitterness. The body is still fairly big and so drinking it still takes a quite. A good effort alround, but will surely die sooner rather than later.

Bottle @ Brasserie Erasmus, Brügge.
[vintage 1998]
Pours clear coppery golden with a small, frothy, off-white film head. It disappears rather quickly, though. Aroma has cellar, red apples, port, wood. Still maintains a fairly high carbonation, but the mouthfeel remains a bit below my expectations. Flavour is great, though. Some port, wood, maltiness, caramel, toffee mix with a whiff of smoke, some graininess and just a faint hint of something tart. Impressive.

Bottle from 1998
Aroma: pears, summer fruits, yeasty doughiness
Appearance: murky, golden yellow-orange, white head, some lacing
Flavor: summer fruits, yeasty-doughiness, musty-aged qualities, minerals
Palate: smooth, aged qualities but still has alcohol bite

Big thanks to miketd. 1998 vintage. Poured a murky amber with a thin off-white head. The aroma is of oxidized malt with earthy and yeasty notes. Notes of pears and red apples as well. Light fruity flavor and semi-sweet. Mild tartness upon warming. Light to medium bodied.

Picked up a couple bottles of this at Hotel Erasmus in Brugge. Murky brown, small white head. Aroma is yeast and caramel sweetness. Pretty complex nose. Flavor is sour and tart, but also has a fair amount of sweetness. Medium bodied and drinkable. Good stuff.
