The aroma is quite lemony, perfumy and port-like. The tartness is also there in the aroma. The flavor has the tartness of a green apple but it is that typical De Dolle flavor. Yum. It’s pretty carbonated and does not taste very oxidized, even at this point. The balance of sourness, funk and sweetness is heavenly but I’ll admit to being a lush for De Dolle and Fantome beers. Simply delicious. JoeinUccle (911), Brussels, Belgium
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2007 33 cL bottle @ Erasmus yesterday. And what a treasure... Color is an orangey brown-amber with the lacy, lasting head you expect from De Dolle. Lots of old honey and some lemon in the nose. I found sour fruits in the flavor, somewhat tart but so refreshing for such a big beer. Also honey, orange peel, "fresh" hops, and some alcohol. Lively and dry. Lemon-limey, hoppy, malty finish with more alcohol. Really unique and enjoyable. This beer is nine years old and has held up like a dream. Crosling (1855), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Muddy Orange.
Very lively. The aroma just exploding out of the glass. Notes of plums, prunes and honey in the nose.
Mellow, aged, soft and very delicious with lovely fruit notes; plum, peach and pear. Definately sweetened with cane sugar. TheBeerGod (3167), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 3, 2004 Bottled. Purchased at Brasserie Erasmus. Reddened amber body with a medium tan head. Nose is very honeyish and sweet with light malt notes and light floral notes. Taste is more honey, some tart fruit, flowers, mild malts, and spice. Body is bubbly and effervescent but still kind of light. Finish is light honey notes, tart fruits, anjd mild dryness. Good beer! JorisPPattyn (5191), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 17, 2003 Tweaking of "Dulle Teve", one ingredient having been changed: instead of the usual beetsugar, cane sugar was used. This resulted in a somewhat lower ABV: 9% instead of 10%. This beer is still readily available at Erasmus tavern in Brugge. Very thick creamy head, orang-amber beer, hazy. Oxidation in the nose, cookies-biscuit (3yrs old), typical musty DDB smell, sugar + honey, and a garden-herbs aroma. Sweet taste - but less than expected. Bitterish, more than expected, blending with the musty flavour to a very balanced beer. There is some oxidation-flavour component. Thick, oily mouthfeel. Very outspoken alcohol-burn. Long honey-flavoured aftertaste, dryer than first taste. A very likeable beer, which defies its BBdate - the hotel-inn isn't fooled and still offers it on the menu. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark

The beer is very lively and frothy when poured. The body is muddy orange brown with a nice off-white head. Aroma is quite full and spicy with lots of fruit specially oranges. I also sense honey, plums, cookies and some alcohol. Very nice and fresh! Flavor is full-bodied, sweet and fruity, almost like fruit-soufflé. Notes of oranges, white pebber, raisins and honey and a nice warming alcohol bite to the finish. Another very flavorfull and interesting beer from De Dolle that I really hope to get a chance to try again.... A huge thanks goes to Jacob Lövenlund for letting me have this very rare beer from an awesome brewery!! sayravai (3760), Helsinki, Finland
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 22, 2006 (Bottled@Erasmus) Hazy, nutty amber color with a smallish, lasting head. Port-wineous, slightly cellary, sweetish aroma wth figs. Sweetish, toffee-caramely flavor with figs, port and oak. Some herbs (rosemary, salvia) too.Medium-bodied, surprisingly fresh palate with low carbonation. Slightly syrupy. Much softer and slightly ashy with yeast. Although it may not be at its best anymore, it’s still a very enjoyable brew, with which you’ll sit for long and not because it’s so bad ;). blankboy (3239), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a cloudy copper-orange with some sediment and an average size frothy white head. Aroma of sweet malt, candi sugar, tart fruit, yeast, toffee and spices -- smells wonderful! Flavour of tart fruit, mostly lemon, along with spices and sweet caramel malt. Medium bodied. Fantastic, I loved it!
