Commercial Description:
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

BLAM. Careful when opening this one. Foam goes everywhere. The color is a cloudy yellow-ish brown color with head for days, lots of carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The smell is a little citrusy, with some nutmeg or allspice in there, covering up the faint alcohol smell in the background. Almost reminds me of a fall beer. The taste has a little kick from the alcohol with a lot of citrus elements combined, again, with a little autumn spice. It is a little dry, too. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. A good kick and a nice mixture of spice.

Tasted on bottle as well as from draft. Older versions 7 % in 2000, and 1996, 8,2 % from 82 till 87. A very nice beer and still good after more then 20 years old. I love it

Bit cloudy golden beer with the typical huge Dolle’s head. Belgian esters, some honey, a little fruitiness, peppery. Spicy flavours, medium bodied toward a dry end. A bit yeasty. A really nice beer.

Pours hazy orange / copper with an off-white head that is pillowy. The aroma has sweet malt, lots of earthy Belgium yeast, peppery spice and a minor amount of bananas. Medium sharp body that has lots of semi-soft carbonation. The flavor begins with the aroma traits along with lots of apparent abv strength, candi sugar and extra spice. The finish increases the spice. The is very good, but not up to my expectations from De Dolle.

Bottled, BB Feb 2008, sampled August 2008. A lot of pressure inside the bottle. Beautiful hazy golden/orange coloured, firm lasting white head. Spicy nose. Alcoholic sweet flavour, lots of spices, a bit cloying actually. I had high expectations, but this beer couldn’t really live up to it.

11.2oz bottle, gushed like a mofo. My feet are sticky. Screw you, Boskeun! Pours a vaguely clear, golden-orange color; off-white head with solid retention and patchy, fine-bubbled lacing. Good amounts of white pepper, honey, and Belgian sugar in the aroma; less De Dolle house character than a lot of their beers; quite sweet. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of sweet, chewy honey, Belgian sugars, light spice and white pepper; very much like a tripel; some vanilla, gently spiced, lightly carbonated, and very much on the sweet side; disappointing in comparison to many of their beers (my feet being sticky doesn’t help here). Lengthy finish: lots of honeyed malty sweetness, complex yeastiness, and dry toasty malts; the finish is the finest part of this beer.

From a 11.2oz bottle purchased at By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a glowing hazy copper-orange hue with a frothy off-white gripping head. Yeasty, pineapple, apple, fruity gum nose. Prickly mouthfeel that is sharp with a soft fruity finish. Massively flavorful finish. Damn I love DeDolle!
