Commercial Description:
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Nice burnt orange/ mahogany pour with a pillowy one-finger head that receded slowly. Very sticky lace...lots of sugar. Large number of floating nuggets. Nose is mild but complex...tart peach, apple, and apricot concoction, white raisins, bready and sugary with very present alcohol vapors. Very effervescent. Flavor of white bread, brown sugar, over ripened bananas, honeydew melon, and orange peel all muddled in a bubbly alcohol pool. Very mild, no hops noticed. Good body, nice and smooth flavor profile. Great for Easter or anytime I would think.

No better day than today to try this one. Cap nearly rockets off the bottle (this one’s at least 1, if not 2 years old) and the beer explodes into dense creamy carbonation, requiring a good minute and a half pour. Anyway, ended up with a ridiculously blooming head and a darker orange-gold body with some floaties bouncing around. Nose is mildly tart with a peachy fruitiness, strange earthy yeast character, and some alcohol vapors. Nice and full, bubbly and spicy, on the palate, starting with a banana-like fruit and floral honey sweetness before shifting into a peppery zest and finishing chalky and slightly dry, with a tannin-like bitterness. Not my favorite beer from de dolle, but another interesting addition.

11.2 oz. bottle at Flat Rock Saloon. Poured hazy orange with fluffy white head. Very sweet with candy sugar dominating the flavor. Honey evident as well. Love the fucking bunny on the label.

Bottle at home ... Golden orange ... very lumpy ... Big foam head ... light fruity hop nose ... little warming on way down ... some grapefuit hop just a little sour ... milt bready tones ... just not working for me.

Bottle, pours with a hazy, orange body and a huge white head. Good lacing. Nose of spice, yeast and light roasted malt. The flavour is sweet with citrus fruit and notes of coriander and yeast. Full bodied. It has a slightly alcoholic finish. An interesting brew.

2 year old version (vintage 2006). Hazy orange with a firm head and good lacing. Weak sweet aroma of honey and peach. The flavours are spicy with notes of orange peels, yeast, hay and some dry bitterness. No alcohol present, it has aged very nicely!!

Bottled, at The Stuffed Sandwich in Temple City, CA. Gusher upon opening. I guess I was supposed to bring my own glass; using the provided paper Dixie cups...weak. Massive beige head that overflows each pour, way too much carbonation here, but it sure does look good. Average aroma of dates, dark grape, and clove. Lots of dark fruits, notably raisin, in the flavor. Finishes with a bit of spiced caramel and mild yeast tones, with an alcohol and fruity phenol nose.
