Commercial Description:
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Bottle. IT’S ALIVE! This beer just kept giving me head...uhm....that didn’t sound right? Well, there certainly was life in this one with a frolicking, foamy off white head. Hazy and golden, amber colour. Dry, yeasty aroma with elements of lemon, spices and some alcohol. Very powerful flavour of spices, some fruit, a little malt and a dry, slight bitter finish. A truly great beer for easter with an outstanding character to set it aside from other easter beers. I wish everyone would brew seasonals with their own characteristics like this one does. Splendid!

33 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in atulip glass.

App.: GUSHED!! Orange-amber with a significant quantity of large yeast flakes (reminds me almost of pulp), very small white head. Aroma: Huge gobs of peach/apricot jam, some orange and citrus, light acidic tang, a bit of yeast/dough and spice; very fruity. Palate: Medium body, slightly oily, very full effervescence (to the point where I look like a puffer fish if I leave it in my mouth too long). Flav.: Rich dark fruits, plent of that peach/apricot jam, some burnt sugar, woodsy alcohol, light spice, citrus peel; sweet and very lightly bitter; leaves a fair alcohol impression and leaves a pleasant malty aftertaste of bread, biscuits and spice cookies.

I hate surprises. If someone happens to read this and know what may be happening here, please send me a note. I think that the yeast flakes and the gushing must be related. Volcanic eruption aside, this is tasty beer.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark gold with a massive, lacy cream-colored head. Aroma of spiced fruit and grass. Maybe a touch of band aid. Medium body and light carbonation. Sweet, almost a bubblegum-tinged honey taste. Spicy and somewhat alcoholic finish.

11.2 from sam’s chicago. a very dense and cloudy orange ale. it looks like an orange soda float. i notice a little clumpy white sediment in the bottom of the glass. milky white head rapidly decreases to a thin white top. big fruity nose. alcohol is also apparent. lots of esters and yeast as well as some apricot. spicy, with loads of astringent alcohol. this is a unique belgian beer. perfumy floral hops play a big part of its taste. dusty aroma has hints of tropical fruit too. very grapey flavors remind me of chardonay. oaky tannic qualities play against high alcohol and floral hops. not my favorite.
